Jere- Patrick LYNCH was the first person to live in Moberly, before it was here. The Railroad decided to put an East/West line where Moberly is today. But the civil war came along and so the RR did not do anything about establishing a town until after the war. They got Patirck Lynch, who lived about a mile from the furture site of Moberly to move his house and hold the land until after the civil war. The first Moberly lot sale was 1866. Maybe some of the descendants of the LYNCH family can help you. 1876 Moberly City Dir. - LYNCH - James, fireman St. Louis, Kansas City and Northern Railroad; Patrick, wks for Railroad shops, r corner Concannon & Greeley; Thomas, wks RR shops, r Concannon & Greeley.
