Thanks for the look-up on the Wayland name, Cecy. > 1932 Moberly City Dir. - WAYLAND - > All these people living at 511 S. 5th - Miss Annabell, tchr; Henry Parker; John T, > stu; Lloyd L (Anna) supt inventment dept Light Co; Miss Lola E, stu; Miss Virginia, > stu. Lloyd L. Wayland mentioned above was my grandfather. The "Anna" must be his wife, my grandmother, Anne Calvin Terrill. Annabelle Wayland was my aunt, b. 24 Jul 1902 Moberly , d. 15 Dec 1970 St. Louis, MO. She m. Sam Brown Armstrong 9 Apr 1933. He was b. 20 Jul 1902 Moberly, d. 6 Sep 1970 St. Louis, MO. Sam was a reporter and at one time the city editor for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. She taught school for many years. Henry Parker "Hank" Wayland, b. 4 Aug 1908 Moberly, d. 26 Oct 1987 Fredericktown, MO, was my uncle. He had the Ford dealership in Fredericktown, MO. On 19 Nov 1933, he m. Rebecca Elizabeth "Becky" Carr, who was b. 22 Jan 1911 and is still with us. John T. Wayland, b. 2 Mar 1907 Moberly, d. 8 Nov 1997 Charleston, SC was my father. In 1932 he was getting his PhD from Yale; he was a professor and a minister. While in New Haven, he met and married Eunice Fowler, a 12th generation New Haven, CT descendant, who is still with us at age 94. My aunt, Lola Ellen "Lo" Wayland, b. 10 Jul 1912 Moberly, d. 30 Aug 1955, Moberly, on Mar 1949 m. Howard H. Stamper, b. 23 Oct 1889, d. 20 Oct 1959, Moberly. She was the 2nd of the 3 wives of Howard. She was an umarried school teacher prior to their marriage, and her "stu" category must have been college. They had no children. My aunt, Virginia Wayland, b. 24 Mar 1917 Moberly, retired after years as a school teacher and head of the English department in a large high school in NJ. She is still living in NJ and doing well. She never married. The home address I must have had wrong in my mind, as I had it as 511 South 4th Street. Would you double-check that for me, Cecy? As a child, I always visited my grandparents and cousins in this house. I have a photo of that house on the Wayland photo section on my site below. All of Lloyd and Anne's children were born in the house, which Lloyd built before their marriage. My grandfather, Lloyd told me one time that Anne's Terrill family was a little "particular" about his interest in marrying Anne. They dated for about 7 years after they were adults; he was age 28 and she was age 27 when they got married. He said that he had to have the house built and a good career before the marriage was allowed by her father. Unlike most people today, he told me that they only exchanged quick kisses during their long courtship. Anne was the last of 9 children born to John Robert Terrill and Anne E. Roberts. Her mother died giving birth to her, and her father never remarried. There were 5 sons and 4 dtrs., and Anne was the only one of the dtrs. who ever married. Maybe "pop" set unreasonable demands on suitors and "mom" was not there to give any input. LOL. > There is a WAYLAMD, Raydell (Etta) r 1600 Myra. Don't know if that is really > Wayland or not. The Raydell is not familiar to me, so perhaps the surname is not Wayland. > 1905 - lots of Wayland - one is Lloyd L (Annie) bakery and grocery 122 Reed, r 511 > S. 5th. Living with them Miss Ada, artist. At 510 S. 5th is Henry H (Belle) trav > agt; William, clk L. L. Wayland, 4 510 S 5th. These are my grandparents, Lloyd and Annie Wayland, soon after their marriage. I remember that Granddad told me that he owned a bakery early on. The Ada living with them is probably Lloyd's sister, Adah Wayland, b. 30 Jan 1887, d. Oct 1963 CA. She m. Perry Davis, b. 16 Jan 1888, d. Nov 1970 CA. The 18 year old was probably helping with the 3 yr. old child, Annabelle. Henry Harrison Wayland, b. 2 Sep 1843 Chariton Co., d. 2 Jul 1921 Hammond, Louisiana was the father of Lloyd. His wife was Anna Belle Jackson, b. 2 Dec 1853 Howard Co., d. 28 Mar 1923. William, b. 21 Oct 1879, d. 22 Aug 1931, was probably the brother of Lloyd. He m. Anna E. Breckwoldt in 1912. I don't know what happened to him and whether or not he had any family. My grandfather Lloyd apparently had a falling out with all 3 of his siblings; he would never talk of them to me, and I never saw them when I visited the house. I would like to know what happened to them, and if they have any descendants alive, as I am not aware of it. Unfortunately, we see that a lot today also...when the parents are both dead, their children cut the strings between them. All of Lloyd's siblings moved from Randolph Co, and to other states as well. I have photos of all of these people on my homepage, but limit genealogy information on my pages to those born before 1900, for the sake of privacy. Thanks again, Cecy, and I would appreciate your checking that address for me. John Wayland http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~wayland/
