Hello Missourians I have been monitoring with interest the Burton discussion going on and find I have a few questions. My line of Wisdoms relate to these Burtons. I discover that there are two branches of Burtons who migrated intoRandolph County in the early days. 1) May Burton branch - He is son of Ambrose Burton and Catey Wisdom, born in Orange, Va., lived in Kentucky, moved to Randolph, had a large family, including May Medley Burton, local Judge. 2) Francis Howard Burton branch -son of Allen Buton, born in Cumberland Va., lived in Caswell NC, moved to Randolph, had a large family, including Samuel Love Burton, local Judge. Both families seem to originate in same area of Virginia, link up with Wisdom family and end up in Randolph Mo. Both families seem to be prominent, i.e. the 2nd family left a branch in NC from which a Governor of the state came. Are there any researchers out there who have connected these two lines? Also I have been wondering if the Rev.James Burton (1821-1909) is a son of James Burton (1793-1863) brother of above May Burton? Thanks for any information you can give.
