First I would like to thank Larry Sumpter for all his valuable work and effort he puts into this list, without him the below imformation would not have been found. I would also would like to thank Marrion Harlan, although not on this list, he indexed every death, and marriage listed in every news paper from Randolph Co, from the newspapers on micro filmed at the state archives in Columbia. His indexes are at the state archives and I believe for sale at the Historical Society in Moberly. These two men and others do a wonderful job trying to peice together valuable records for Randolph Co that many of you already know were distroyed by fires. Henderson that married Frances Ann Graves # 1497 of the Capt Thomas Graves line of VA at the Graves family web site ><http://www.gravesfa.org/gen169.htm>http://www.gravesfa.org/gen169.htm It reads as follows..... "...1497. Frances Ann Graves, b. 10 March 1815, m. John Henderson, Jr., 5 Nov. 1832 (Orange Co., Va.). His father was John Henderson. They moved to Missouri. She is also reported to have married Lindsay Brockman...." Frances Ann Graves Henderson is a sister to Jonathan Graves that is also buried at Clifton Hill my direct line. My gleanins of the genelogy info follows, then census data and the complete obit after that. I believe it is safe to say she didn't marry Lindsay Brockman. BUT notice there are several inconsistencies in ALL THREE sources! John H. Henderson b. April 29, 1814 in Orange Co VA m. Thelbert G Randolph Co MO 1850 census from Salt Springs township as follows....from a transcription not the actual census sheets: Does anyone know the sheet number for this census? J. H. M. 6 f Mo Virginia 1 f Mo History of Randolph and Macon Counties published in1884 page 616). written about Dr Baker as follows.....NOTE the error, that Frances is listed a s GRAY instead of a GRAVES!.... (from Larry Sumpter's work) ....In 1865 Dr. (Peter S.) Baker was married to Miss Jennie W. Henderson, of this county. She was a daughter of John H. and Frances A. (Gray) Henderson, both originally of Orange county, Va., who came to Missouri in 1835, locating in Randolph county. The mother died in 1880, and the father is now a resident of Salisbury, in Chariton county. They had a family of seven children: John W., Mary S. F., Sue M., Jennie W., Thelbert G., and one who died in infancy. The father is again married. The Doctor and Mrs. Baker have had four children: Arthur G., Jennie B., Wilfred Lee and Sallie S."..... OBIT of John H. Henderson from the Salisbury MO Press April 16, 1897 as follows.... "Uncle John H. Henderson of Charition's oldest and most worthy ciizens, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dr. J. H.. P. Baker, in this city Wednesday evening, April 14th 1897, aged 82 years, 11 months and 15 days, death resulting from the infirmities incident to old age. Funeral services will be conducted at the Baptist church tomorrrow morning (Friday) by the paster Rev Parker Stockdale, after which burial will take place at the cemetery at Clifton Hill under the auspices of the Masonic lodge of that place, of which he was a member, and assisted by the Salisbury lodge. Uncle John was born in Orange County, Virginia, April 29, 1814. On the 13th of Novembver , 1832 he was united in marriage to Miss Frances Ann Graves, of that state, the result of which union was seven children, six of whom reached maturity and five of whom are now living, viz: Mary E. Lay, Sarah F. Lee, and F. G. Henderson, of Randolph County: Mrs Dr. Baker, of the city, and Susan M. Tooley of Concordia, Kas. The wife and mother died at her home at Ft. Henry near Clifton Hill, Feb 9th, 1879. May 1st, four years later Mr Henderson was again united in mariage, this time to Mrs. Rachel Whiteside of this place, who also preceeded him to the great beyond, her death occurring Wednesday, Aug 25th, 1896 Uncle John's residence in Missouri dates from 1837, when he located in Randolph County, were he resided for many years and then came to this city. A gentleman of enterprise, industry and integrity, he has contributed materially in days past, of his time, means and energy, towards the growth and development of these two counties, A gentleman of noble impulses, warm hearted and possessed of a sympathetic nature, he enjoyed the confidence and esteem of all his acquaintances. At an early day, deceased made a profession of religion, connecting himself with the Baptist church, and lived and died in the triumphant faith of a christian's hope A great protion of his time since 1877 has been spent in the reading of the scriptures, and from a little memorandum book found in his family bible, in which we obtained the above information, we learned that since '77 he had read the New Testatment through 202 times and the entire bible more than ten times.
