Mrs. Payton is probably the oldest lady living in Randolph or Howard counties. She was born and raised in Madison county, Ky. She was born in 1895. Her maiden name was White, and is a sister of the late J. R. White, of Howard county. She married Yelverton Payton in 1812. Her husband served in the wars of 1812 and 1815, from which she now draws a pension. They moved to Randolph county, Mo., in 1843. They had eight children-six of whom are living yet. The oldest is seventy and the youngest fifty three years old. Mrs. Payton still enjoys good health and can walk very well, and is always busy sewing and knitting. She is very fond of reading. She joined the Old School Baptists in 1817, and is still a member of that church. She has probably pieced more quilts than any lady in the state.--Fayette Advertiser; MDM Friday 4 May 1883 Price, Charles {Mrs.} -- of Dennison, OH, visiting her sister, Mrs. W. A.
