Much to my chagrin...it appears that Mary Ann's mother and other slaves were to be sold [according to the will and probate] and their worth divided among several family members. Now I need to find a auction notice for slaves sold at the courthouse for the estate of Jacob Chism. I'm wondering who bought the slaves from his estate... family members or other local folks.
