I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was founded in about 1874. That was the date that the railroad came through the area, and it went by the Higbee Church that was located on the farm of a Mr. Higbee. There may have been a few people there before that, but I think that was the date the town was actually established. The newspaper "The Higbee News" started in 1890. Kathy Bowlin
