Hi Billy, I know John Wayland (John Waylandhttp://homepages.rootsweb.com/~wayland/)has more info on this family than I do, but I show a Thomas Gorham LOWRY married to Louisa Catherine FORT. Thomas b 1821/22 in Franklin, Howard Co., MO. and was son of Dr. John Jefferson LOWRY and Nancy Malinda GORHAM. I also show Thomas's death as 21 Jun 1870, Randolph Co., MO. The following are the notes on Thomas: Capt. Thomas Gorham Lowry, b. 31 Jan 1821/1822 Franklin, Howard Co., MO, d. 21 Jun 1870 Thomas Hill, Randolph Co., MO, m. 28 Jun 1843 Randolph Co. Louisa Catherine Fort, b. 10 Jul 1826, d. 17 Aug 1885. This Thomas was the son of Dr. John Jefferson Lowry (born PA) and Nancy Malinda Gorham. He served in Confed. forces from beginning to the end. I don't have any of the names you have mentioned in my files. Linda In a message dated 8/10/00 6:32:03 AM, bbwj45@havilandtelco.com writes: << am searching for children & grandchildren of Tom G. Lowry and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Baxter, both buried in the Oakland Cemetery. Would especially like to correspond with living relatives. Here is the problem: Our family's "tradition" states that Tom G. Lowry of Randolph County is the son of our Henry Giese Lowry and his wife Catherine Shune Lowry. Trouble is, none of the relevant census information (1840, 1850, 1860, 1870) shows a son named Tom G. Lowry. To make matters worse, neither the probate record for Henry, who died in 1881, nor that for Catherine who died in 1886, indicates a son named Tom G. Lowry. Henry's estate actually names the 7 children who survive, while Catherine's obituary merely states that 7 children survive. Clue: One son, Valentine G. Lowry, disappears after 1870. "Disappears" means I lose track of him in the census. I've been wondering whether "Tom" was, in fact, Valentine. Additional Information: Two daughters of Henry and Catherine Lowry did live in Randolph County during the 1880 census. These were Alice Rice, wife of Charley Rice; and Lena Margaret Durkee, wife of Thomas Durkee. "Tom" wouldn't have been there without family. Any help on this problem most sincerely appreciated. Very truly yours, Billy B. Walker, Jr. GG-Grandnephew of Valentine Giese Lowry >>
