Regarding the discussion about Waldo's wife, Loretta (is her surname Lay or Lessly?): The 1910 and 1920 census (Randolph Co.) shows a Joseph Lay & wife Etheline, but no children (1910 says 0 children, 0 survive). The 1920 census (Randolph Co.) shows an Orron Lessley as head of household, wife is Cassie D., with one child, Loretta, age 8. So, maybe Loretta's surname was not Lay, and maybe the Lessly (or Lessley) surname is correct for her. _____ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2006 12:04 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MoRandolph] Malone It seems like this is the same guy. I kind of doubt there were two Waldo Malone's despite the difference of opinion between myself and Cary Bankhead over whom he married. I'll stay tuned to Kathy Bowlin's transcriptions of "The Higbee News" - my notes show Waldo married in 1934 and I'm betting The News will mention bride and groom and their parents. Below is information on a Waldo Malone taken from the Social Security Death Index. Name: Waldo E. Malone SSN: 488-24-9050 Born: 7 Jul 1907 Died: 1 Mar 1974 State (Year) SSN issued: Missouri (Before 1951 ) In a message dated 4/6/2006 11:51:04 AM Eastern Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: Higbee News: 1 Apr 1904--Married, on March 30, 1904, at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Cubbage, near Yates, Miss Myrtie Cubbage and Mr. H. H. Malone. The NEWS joins other friends in extending congratulations. The 1930 census says Waldo is a schoolteacher. Is this the same Waldo mentioned in emails earlier today? Charles A. Leach
