Ben, I did quite a bit of work on these families a year or two ago primarily since Ruby's daughter, Martha Ann, and I went all through school together and I guess she would qualify as my first sweetheart (I don't know if she'd admit to that or not!) At any rate, Ruby Frances Terrill was the only child of James Breckenridge Terrill (l86l-l932) and Martha Alice Hayden (l871-l956). He is buried in the Botts Cem east of Higbee which has been in horrible condition for years. She is buried in the Higbee Cem where I'm sure Ruby will be buried. Martha was a daughter of Melvin B. & Angeline Frances Wilkins he ca l835-l892 she l84l-l93l. Martha Ann's brother has told me of a Civil War era letter to some of these latter folks, which we keep saying we' re going to copy for the Randolph Co Hist Society files, but which hasn't happened yet. Melvin was a son of J. W. Hayden and Martha T. _______. Angeline was a daughter of a George Wilkins b. ca l8l2 and a Mary A. ______, said to have been b. in TN. Angelina's Higbee obit mentions her being a first cousin of both the abolitionist John Brown an Pres. James Knox Polk, but in looking at their pedigrees I haven't been able to document that claim. Another juicy mystery to solve! Hope this is of use...stay in touch.
