Can anyone tell me what happened to Addie and Orphie Lessly? The are both listed in the 1920 Moniteau Twp., Randolph Co., Missouri, census SD2, ED 139, Sheet 1B. They are shown as daughters of George E. and M. May Lessley. On the 1930 Moniteau Twp., Randolph Co., Missouri, census, ED 88-8, SD 6, Sheet 9B, only Orphie is shown. Addie may have married as she would have been about 19. Neither of these children are listed on Larry Sumpter's Randolph County cemetery data base. (see below) Any help would be appreciated. Ms. Cecil V. Boyd "Lessly, George Edwin -- 1873-1933, m. Willa Mae (Daggs), children: (1) Paul, twin (7 Jul 1915-3 Apr 1919), (2) Pauline, twin (7 Jul 1915-17 Aug 1916), (3) Carrie Nichols (11 Oct 1902-15 Apr 1903), (4) Anna Maud (b. 22 Aug 1900), (5) James Carl (b. 27 Jun 1905), (6) Delpha May (b. 6 Nov 1909) = Old Higbee Cem; HN 25 Aug 1916; HN 11 Apr 1919; HN 17 Oct 1902; HN 17 Apr 1903; HN 12 Nov 1909; Carole Brace, [email protected]"
My records indicate that Addie died in 1928 and is buried at the Higbee Cemetery. She was very ill from Diptheria, so it's possible she died from complications of that. Orpha apparently survived the illness, since she was still on the 1930 census records. Addie was killed in a car accident in the 1920s. My Aunt Orpha died in the 1990s. Aunt Delpha is dead too. There are no living children of George and May Lessly (Lessley). There are some grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I am a great-grandchild. My father is Roy A. Lessly. My grandfather was Leroy Lessly, and my great-grandfather was George Edwin Lessly.
