    3. Kathy - so glad to see the Higbee News. I am always finding something related to one of mine. The excerpt below corresponds with a group photo I have and know that sometimes in the news they will list some of the attendees. I know that you didn't list any, so most likely the "News" didn't do it this time (to my disappointment), but I thought I would ask you anyways. I sure was waiting for them to list a few names. Thursday, 21 June1928, Vol 42. No. 7, Page 3, Col. 5--SOUTH OF TOWN--Some fifty or sixty relatives and friends came with loaded baskets to the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Bradley near Rucker Sunday in honor of Mr. Bradley's birthday anniversary. A sumptuous dinner was served, after which the men and boys played croquet and the ladies engaged themselves in conversation and music. A good time was had by all. In any case, the next entry was a surprise to me and I will have to ask one of my living relatives if she remembers this since she was at this party as a young girl. Thursday, 21 June1928, Vol 42. No. 7, Page 3, Col. 5--SOUTH OF TOWN--Sunday evening after all the guests had departed the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Bradley was struck by lightning, it running in on the radio wire, melting the wire and filling the room with smoke so dense one could not see. Aside from giving them all the biggest scare of their lives no damage was done. Grandpa Harris, who resides there, is so feeble he can not get around, but he ran out of the house like a boy when the lightning struck. Plus it opens the question of "Grandpa Harris"??????? The only Harris' I know, in relation to my Bradley's, was an elder (deceased) sister of Emmett married a Robert Harris. I wonder if the father-in-law came to live with his deceased daughter-in-laws' brother??? Doesn't sound right. Once again, so happy that your fingers are doing the reporting again! Valerie

    3. Valerie, Do you know who the parents were of Ernest "Emmett" Bradley's wife, Iva? Also, do you have birth & death places for both of them. Since they're buried in Perche, I assume they lived in Boone Co., but you know what happens when you A-S-S-U-M-E? I have Emmett, s/o James Anderson & Sarah Ellen (Palmer) Bradley. He was b. June 21, 1867, in MO-d. Jan. 11, 1932 in MO. Iva was b. Oct. 12, 1876 in MO-d. Jan. 7, 1958, in MO. Both are buried in Perche Baptist Church Cemetery outside of Clark, Randolph Co., MO.
