    3. Hi Annabelle, I've been meaning to post you for awhile, concerning your Burton, Collins lines. Are they by any chance from Orange county, VA originally? I ask, because I have seen the name Burton in the county, and have a will for May Burton (not that common a name) from there as well. Many of the names in Howard county can be traced back to Orange county, VA. They moved from there to Mercer county, KY and finally to Howard and Randolph counties, MO. Among them are Atkins, Page, Hoard, Burris, Brockman, Collins, Burton, and many, many others. I don't know how many of these families are related, or whether they just traveled together. Below is the will for May Burton. From "Will Abstracts of Orange County, Virginia (1821-1838) Orange county Will Book 7". by Ruth and Sam Sparacio. Original Will Book 7, pgs 143-147. Will of MAY BURTON....give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Sarah Burton, one third of my whole estate which I have not conveyed by deed either to my son, Benjamin Burton, or my son in law, Alesander Bradford..I have given to each of my married daughters, except Fanny Buckner, a young negro woman at the time of their marriage..I have furnished my said daughter, Fanny Buckner, a plantation to live on..land to be managed by executors for the benefit and maintenance of Baldwin M. Buckner, his wife and children...father of Baldwin M. Buckner, Mordecai Buckner, dec'd daughters, Judith Webb, Sarah Payne and Mary Maria Eddins..Benjamin B. Blakey in consequence of his infirmity shall have an equal proportion with his brothers and sisters..and their descendants of the estate of the said Judith to be divided at her death..and besides there shall be taken out of the part coming to his mother, Judith Webb..I give to my daughter, Lucy Collins..all my interest in a tract of land lying in Madison county, whereon James Collins, deceased, formerly lived and of which he died seized..and one other tract in Madison County whereon Allen Raines lived and of which he died seized..remainder in what shall be allotted my wife, Sarah Burton, shall be equally divided between my daughters, Fanny Buckner, Judith Webb, Sarah Payne, Margarette Burton, Martha Craig and Mary Maria Eddins..Hannah Bradford (is listed among another group of children of whom Benjamin is the only son)..appoint my son, Benjamin burton, and my son in law, Alexander Bradford, and my son in law, James Craig, my executors..this first day of November 1827..Signed..May Burton, In the presence of Thomas S.
