Some records show her dying in 1848 but I question that date as his second marriage took place 7 June, 1853 in Randolph County, Mo to Minerva Grisham. I think that may have been Mary Jane's sister. The family history gives the mother for the three younger children as Minerva and all the older children to Mary J. which would mean Mary Jane's death may have been in 1853 . There are two reasons for my conclusion. First, Mary Jane was still listed with the family in the 1850 census in Randolph County. Second, my listing for the date of birth for the youngest child of Mary Jane and Bartholomew Heifner is Mary Jane in 1853. I am also looking for the burial place for Bartholomew Heifner and his two wives, Mary Jane and Minerva. Bart died about 1839. They lived in the Huntsville area. Another daughter of Mary Jane and Bartholomew named Sarah was born in 1840 and did not appear in the 1850 census indicating she may have died. If so, when and where is she buried? In addition, I am looking for a marriage license of Sarah Elizabeth (Cooley) and her first husband, either the name of Knight or Phillips. She married her second husband, George Washington Heifner in 1868 in Randolph County. They are both buried at Darksville. George Washington Heifner was the son of Bart and Mary J. Heifner. I appreciate the help of the Randolph County genealogists. Is there anyone researching the Heifner/Hockersmith families in the area?
