    1. Re: [MORANDOL] Sarah M BLANSET
    2. Cecil Boyd
    3. Norman - Per the 1880 Moniteau Twp., Randolph Co., MO census Blanset, George W., wife Sarah M., children Chora M., William and Oscar, and Lucy T. Reed (mother-in-law) were living in the same household. It shows that Lucy T. Reed was a widow. I found the following in The Higbee News - "The Higbee News" Friday, 16 Jan 1920, Vol 33, No 39 BIRTHDAY DINNER Sunday, Jan. 11, was a day long to be remembered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Blansett, it being the latter's 70th birthday anniversary, and which was fittingly celebrated with a big dinner and family reunion. The day proved a most delightful one for all and passed all too quickly, the guests departing at a late hour wishing Mrs. Blansett many happy returns of the day. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Blansett and children, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Blansett, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Blansett and children, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Webb and children and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Dougherty and children. __________ "The Higbee News" dated 4 Feb 1932 Mrs. Sarah Reed Blanset -- The many friends and neighbors of the good woman whose name appears above were not much surprised, but yet deeply grieved when the word went out Wednesday morning that she was dead. She had been slowly failing from old age for two years and the end was expected any time, still we are never reconciled to it. Mrs. Blanset was born near Higbee January 11, 1850, and went home to God January 27, 1932, aged 82 years, 16 days. She was married on February 26, 1874 to George W. Blanset, who proceeded her to the better land almost two years ago. To this union were born eight children, five of whom survive -- Oscar, Albert and Mrs. Cora Dougherty, of Higbee, Henry of Moberly and Mrs. George Webb of Burlington, IA. Sixteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive her besides many other relatives and numerous friends. Mrs. Blanset accepted her Savior and united with the Baptist church about 52 years ago, ever living a consistent and consecrated Christian life to the end. None ever had a kinder mother of better neighbor and friend. Funeral services were held in the home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. Notley Magruder: interment beside her husband in Tucker cemetery. I believe there is a connection between Sarah M. (Reed) Blansett and Thornton Reed, but so far I have not found proof of this connection. I will let you know if I find anything more. Cecil V. 1. [MORANDOL] The family of William "Billy" BROWN,
    2. I am researching the family of William "Billy" BROWN who was born circa 1773 in Pennsylvania (according to the 1850 Federal Census) and died circa 1854 in Randolph County, Missouri. Billy BROWN was married to Elizabeth HORNBECK on 10 January 1799 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. It appears she could have been the daughter of Michael HORNBECK and Clemency AMOS and was born circa 1783 in Hampshire County, Virginia and died circa 1850. This BROWN family lived in the Sugar Creek Township area of Randolph County, according to the Federal Census. They appear in both the 1840 and 1850 Census of Randolph County. Prior to that they were in Kentucky. Does anyone on this list have access to cemetery records? Does anyone on this list have any resources dating back to the mid 1800's? Is anyone else researching this family? Thanks! 2. Carey Bankhead
    3. Most of the Blansetts, as I recall, are buried in the Log Chapel cem on Rte H south of Higbee. I remember seeing a Reed stone somewhere, but can't recall definitely at the moment. The Blansetts and Creasons intermarried.

    3. Henry and Dola Blansett are buried in the Higbee cem. I'm guessing that his father is in the old Graves family cemetery on Rte H south of town that a farmer bulldozed out several years ago. The Blansett's were of that vicinity; other nearby cem's are Log Chapel to the south and Sharon to the west.

    3. Valerie, At the November board meeting, MoSGA discussed sales of back issues. Back issues are to be sold by MoSGA, but individual articles not. (Copyright) Back issues, when available, are sold by MoSGA, but that is not my department. I think the website mosga.org has the info. Copies of individual articles are available from St. Louis Public Library, Mid-Continent Library and Allen County (Ind.) Public Library.
