    3. Jacques, perhaps some observer or participant in this forum is a cousin of mine who is also a cousin of yours because it appears at least one descendant of my 5th G-grandparents married a descendant of your ancestors. I looked in Rootsweb and found Virginia Easley DeMarce has recorded an Emmett A. Sweeney (b. abt 1858) as a son of Archibald Sweeney (b. abt 1811 in KY and his name appears later in later Boone Co., MO censuses. The rootsweb database edbuchanan shows a Nancy Swinney (b. 29 Jun 1804, d. 1834 in Boone Co., MO) who married James A. Schooling. Rootsweb database lanham-smothers shows obviously this same Nancy Sweeney (b. 29 Jun 1804) married James A. Schooling in Washington, Co., KY and she died in Boone Co., MO in 1834). That same database shows Nancy’s Grandfather as Moses Sweeney (b. May 1734 in Belfast, Ireland, d. 17 Jun 1813 in Lincoln, Co., KY). The lanham-smothers database show Nancy’s brother Lindsey was married to Elizabeth Embree. Elizabeth was a daughter of Joseph and Susannah (Shackelford) Embree. Joseph was a grandson of my ancestors Thomas and Frances (Tandy) Burris who were my 5th G-grandparents. Thomas Burris’ parents were ancestors of J.C. Penney. And Frances Tandy’s Grandparents Roger and Jane (Tunstall) Quarles were ancestors of actor Steve McQueen, U.S. Congressman John Mercer Langston and poet John Mercer Langston Hughes. Hughes was born 106 years ago next Friday, Feb 1. -- Ben Hardin --- Jqs116@aol.com wrote: > Dear Friend, > Thanks for the great efforts you devote to > Moberly. 3. Charlie, I was fortunate enough to be able to come to Macon 3 or 4 years ago and found the Kitchen Cemetery. I took photos of the headstone for Peter and Martha Powell. They came out pretty well and are readable. I would love to have any other photos you might have from that cemetery as well as what you may have for Peter and Martha Powell. I found the headstones resting up against a tree in the cemetery. They had been removed from the ground and their actual location in the cemetery is unknown to me. Martha CARROLL Powell died on Dec. 2, 1842 and Peter Powell, Sr. died on July 14, 1849. After Martha died, Peter married Julia CLEMSON Kitchen on March 10, 1844. After Peter Powell, Sr. died, Julia married for third time to Lewis Gilstrap on Nov. 30, 1852. Julia died on November 12, 1878 in Linn County, Kansas. I remember there was at least one other headstone there and I believe it was a good deal more recent than those for Peter & Martha. Do you know where I might find the names of all those buried at this cemetery? I'm wondering if any other Powell ancestors might be resting there. 3. My memory lane in the 1940s and 50s takes me to Moberly’s corner of Williams and Coates Streets, the intersection surrounded by the old U.S. Post Office with a poster in front that said “Uncle Sam Wants You,” the Southwestern Bell Building where many women worked as telephone operators, and Holman’s Laundry where my mother folded ironings for as little as fifty-five cents an hour and Blakeley’s Service Station where cars were constantly being washed and waxed. I don’t remember a time when the coffee can on Mr. Blakeley’s desk was not overflowing with coins left on the honor system by self-service purchasers of candy bars and soda pop. I think Dad always thought of Blakeley/Blakely/Blakley as a cousin but I don’t remember whether I knew just how Blakeley was related to my Gggg-aunt Hannah Hardin who married John William Blakeley, Jr. in 1812. Was the service station proprietor’s first name Alben? How was he related to other 20th Century relatives of Blakeleys? -- Ben Hardin --- Kathy Bowlin <kjbowlin@embarqmail.com> wrote: > Wow! 3. There is a Hebron Cemetery in Macon county, a short distance west of College Mound, http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=39.61722&lon=-92.64028&datum=NAD27&s=50&size=l but that's not the Hebron Cemetery Carey is talking about. The other Hebron Cemetery is reportedly barely in Howard county, about 26 miles SSE of the Hebron in Macon county. I don't have a good fix on it, but I think it's in this area: http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=39.26110&lon=-92.49881&datum=NAD27&s=24&size=l Mike Flannigan On Fri, 25 Jan 2008, jdwisdom@cox.net wrote: >Date: Fri, 25 Jan 2008 14:31:44 -0600 >From: "Barbara Wisdom" <jdwisdom@cox.net> >Subject: Re: [MORANDOL] Hebron Cemetery >To: <morandol@rootsweb.com> > reply-type=original > >Hebron Cemetery is west of College Mound just a short distance. 1. Re: [MORANDOL] 412 Emerson St, Moberly, Missouri
    2. Dear Friend, Thanks for the great efforts you devote to Moberly. I've been trying to find birth records for Randolph county for the time of 1855, particularily Higbee and Renick. I'm looking for Emmitt A Sweeney, born 1855. I believe it was not Randolph county at that time. Also, I believe they started keeping records in 1853. I'm rying to find his parents who I believe came from Kentucky. I'm trying to get back to traceing my family. I started years ago and gave up. Thanks again for all your work. 3. Is anyone familiar with a Hebron Cemetery, supposedly located 3 miles or so southeast of Higbee? A friend of mine in Higbee is seeking info on such a cemetery based on obits he's found. In my years of tromping around the vicinity I've never run across such a graveyard which would be somewhere along the Randolph/Howard Co line I would think. Names he's given me recently sounds like Mt. Pleasant Christian Church farther down in Howard Co on Rte A, which he wonders was once called Hebron -- which I've never heard of. The nearest graveyards thereabouts that I know of are the Floyd family cemetery, Fairvew over on Rte T, etc. I've suggested he seek the 2-vol Howard Co cemetery book, too.

    3. Theresa, I think you have the wrong middle name for Morrison. Lena married Frank St. Clair Aug. 9, 1927. They had 3 son's; Living Daly St. Clair; Franklin Doyle and Morrison Wayne. She was one of a set of triplets b. Apr 28, 1905. Her sisters were named Jackie and Tootie. Jackie d. May 16, 1905, and Tootie d. May 17, 1905. According to one of Lena's son's,............"these girls were buried as unnamed. Tootie & Jackie were names given to the two babies temporally. As far as I knew they never had other names. The names were picked from the ones they thought they looked like. Tootie for Clara (Toodle) Walker Asbury. Jackie for her Dad John M (Jack) St. Clair."
