    3. You sent me on a chase again. Anyone who can help with this (and I thought Teri Chase had info about Mariah Cleeton some time ago). I started looking at the children of Mirty (found her in 1910 as Myrtle L, 1920 as Mertie) and seems that William Franklin Williams was married before - the children on the census don't match with the children named in his obituary. I show son Eugene born Burton, Howard Co 21 Nov 1896 daughter Elois L born Jul 1898 MO (probably Burton) daughter unknown born 14 Oct 1900 (and died before 1910 census per mother's report) daughter Goldie F born ca 1902 MO (probably Burton) Looking into Andrew Ewing and wife in Nebraska as given in William's obit, I find an Andrew Ewing age 35 living with wife Myrtle age 32 (born MO, MO, MO) and son Glenn age 9 in 1920 in Hallam Village, Lancaster Co, NE. Looking at Linda Quinn's FANTASTIC marriage index transcriptions, I find Andrew Ewing marrying Jessie Myrtle Williams 20 Mar 1907 (book 2 page 255 - date filed); appears to be the Andrew and Myrtle above (because of being I hope William William's daughter. William F Williams and Mirty Elliner Mobley married ca 1896; THEY couldn't be Jessie Myrtle's parents (besides, Mirty was born in 1878 a little young to have a child born about 1887. So, now the question. Looking for Jessie Myrtle's mother - I see on Linda Quinn's trnscriptions that William Williams married Mariah Cleeton 27 Dec 1883. In time for her to be the mother of Jessie Myrtle. I don't right now have her on the census before 1920 when she was a Dougherty. Do you or does anyone else know if the William Williams who married Mariah Cleeton is this William Franklin Williams? Sure looks like it. 1. [MORANDOL] Coombs/Bagby info
    2. Wilma Santos
    3. Jim, I really can't shed any light on your earlier e-mail about John Coombs, Arnell Bagby, etc. I just purchased Volume 3 and 4 of the Sturgeon Missouri Leader from Sherry Raleigh-Adams and ran across a brief piece that said....... Sturgeon Missouri Leader Thursday May 27, 1909 Pg. 5 Mrs. Hanna Coombe, aged 77 years, died Sunday night at her home in Columbia. She is survived by six children. On Pg. 4 of the same paper/same day was an article that caught my eye because of the Bagby name. I don't know if this is a relative of yours or not, but thought I'd pass it on. A year ago Thomas R. Bagby was shot down in the night as he approached the house of his sweet heart, Beulah Carter, in Randolph co. Irvin Carter, 23 years old, the confessed slayer, has committed suicide in the house from which the fatal shots were fired. When the coroner arrived at the house Carter's body was lying on the floor with arms folded across the breast, and a revolver with all chambers loaded was on the dead boy's chest. The mother's attention was called to the fact that the revolver had not been fired. She got another weapon with one empty chamber from an adjoining room and said that she, in her excitement, had placed the wrong weapon near her dead son. [Long, detailed article.] If anyone's research centers around Boone, Howard, and/or Randolph Counties, the newspaper abstracts that Sherry has worked on for quite some time is an extremely valuable, informative, and entertaining, research tool. They are VERY affordable and I would highly recommend her work to anyone reading this. If you're interested, go to www.gonewestpublications.com. -- "Life is not the way it's supposed to be. 3. James, My Lexington, KY, COMBS family spent time in Howard County, MO. I do not have my information with me at this time as I am at my son's house. Are you familiar with the Combs, Coombs, &c group. They have a really good list, as well as a great website with much information. 3. There is a Mirty Ellinor Mobley (the name was spelled both ways) living in Bonne Femme Twp in 1880; she was born Feb 1870; she is my 2nd cousin twice removed. However, I believe she is closer kin to Helen Bichel from Bettendorf IA. Helen passed away recently - well it was 1 Apr 2006, but seems recently to me. I can try to contact some of her kin and see if they are interested unless you have reached someone closer already. If not, I would be interested in the picture if you think it could be Mirty rather than Minty. The age seems right. Let me know, please. 3. Tom, According to my information, Thomas and Sarah Reed Hardister appear in the 1870 Salt Spring Twp, Randolph County, Census. They are listed with 2 daughters M. J. born in 1866 and M. A. born in 1869. I show Thomas and Sarah married March 1862 in Randolph County. I show this Thomas as the son of Benjamin and Jane (Polly) Jackson Hardister. Hope this helps. 3. Thanks again, but we're sure this isn't the one my friend is seeking. I've received a similar bit of info for a cemetery just over the Howard Co line south of Higbee; it's one of the satellite types of things with a red dot supposedly indicating the cemetery. I'm familiar with the locale and am confident that there aren't any stones there else someone would have found them and documented it. I'm curious as to how this site got entered on the site.
