Wishing you good luck with the grands. Hope the surgery goes well and recovery is fast. Are you going to be there for the new baby? Just got to meet my newest greatgranddaughter that was born in Germany, now back in Texas with daddy stationed at Fort Hood. She is so precious as are her big brothers. We have found that many times families named the child that came along following the death of an infant was given the same name as the one that died. Sometimes a child was named for an older child that had died - say at 9 or 10. Correction - I just noticed on Larry Sumpters Database of Randolph co Deaths the following listing: Herron, Raymond -- d. 27 Oct 1891 of diphtheria, [adopted s\o John C. Herron] = OB HN 31 Oct 1891 It seems strange that they would have named the adopted child Raymond, if they also had a new born child named Albert Raymond, the one that died in 1976. It is a shame that the article referenced by this listing didn't include a birth date for Raymond who died in 1891. As I proceed throught the Huntsville Herald, I'll keep an eye out for another article regarding the Raymond that died in 1891, to ascertain that he was the adopted son.

Remember, the death certificate is only the information that the survivor had - may be in error, the decedent may have lied, or a mistake. We all have seen that in our own family. The closest to me is my grandfather's death certificate. It says he was born in SD. But 3 census records and 2 daughters birth certificates say Nebraska. I am taking Nebraska. It was his oldest daughter who was the informant, too. Many times it is like "where are you from?" "Kansas" and they will put Kansas down as the birthplace - but he moved there when he was 6. Or even 20. If any of the children died in Missouri after 1911, they would have death certificates on file with the state of Missouri in their archives online. Some of those death certificates might list the mother's name, and that would at least allow you to figure out which woman was living in the household during the time those children were born, and which children belonged to which women.
