I found Agnes McBride listed twice in Boone co, MO Newspaper Abstracts, Vol. 3. Perhaps this will add to the background you have on the family. Thursday, June 27, 1907 Pg. #8: Mrs. E.B. Keesecker arrived yesterday from Cedar Rapids, NE, to visit her sister, Mrs. W.W. Chedester, and mother, Mrs. Agnes McBride. Thursday, August 23, 1906 Pg. #1: Ben Forbis of Centralia and Miss Nora McBride were married in Centralia last Wednesday. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Agnes McBride, of east of town, and sister of Mesdames P.T. King and W.W. Chedester of this city. They will make their home in Moberly.
Valerie, WEre your Palmers from Randolph County Missouri? My gr gr grandfather was John Henry Palmer Sr. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Bunnell. He died in 1869 when his children were little. I have been trying to find what line of Palmers he was from. After checking a few published land sources for your Christopher Hinton, and not finding him (although there are other Hinton) I suggest you go to the The Randolph County Historical Society at 223 N. Clark in Moberly. They have the early deed records on Microfilm. Hours: Monday10-12, Thursday 1-3, Saturday 9-12. There is often someone there other times by chance. Phone 660-263-9396. Randolph County Court House in Huntsville, Missouri is another possibility. They have all the indexes to the Deed Books from the formation of the county in 1829 (same as the microfilm). The first 3 deed books were lost in a fire many years ago, but the Indexes to those books survive and have information on the grantee, grantor and location of property. Hope this helps. Cecy
Jane Debellis made a great recommendation regarding the search for locations of our ancestors in Randolph County, which I'm sharing below. Thanks Jane! Just be sure that you try several spellings of names. For instance Isaac and Michael Stipp are my great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather but the spelling of the last name in the land patent record is Stip not Stipp as I have always seen it otherwise referred. Not sure this is your family, but I see a Christopher Hinton married to Elizabeth Overby in 1830 in Caswell County, NC. In 1842, looks like JC Dameron was Adm and Caswell Wisdom and John Dameron were security for will of Christopher Hinton. Damerons are my family and they were from Caswell Co., NC. The Damerons were spread out in Randolph Co., but mostly lived in Silver Creek township and north of Huntsville to College Mound general area early on. In 1850, looks like James Hinton, 18 and Elizabeth Hinton, 14 were living in Overby household in Sugar Creek township of Randolph County. Also, I see another Hinton family in Chariton Township of Randolph County. For more precise locations, I'd suggest reviewing the Randolph County Deed Books. Often, the index will have the coordinates of the land location. Hope this helps you. My data says his name is John W. Lewis but I don't have a note as to why that initial is being used. Let me consult my original notes from Helen Boswell who has done a lot of research on this line. I'll post again when I find them. Currently I can't tie this Lewis line to the books you speak of. I've tried finding information on Joshua Davis the father of Patience Davis but haven't had much luck so far. I have found a Joshua Davis listed in the census records for the years 1800, 1820 and 1830 in Madison Co., KY where Patience was married. In a message dated 8/18/2008 8:45:49 A.M.
