The Wagner family lived in the Yates area when I was a lad in the '50 and raised Iris', and there was also a lady down in Howard Co near Mt. Pleasant Church who also raised them, but at the moment I can't think of her name.

Strong belief she was a PALMATORY and was married to Jonathan HILTON before marrying George Naylor. There is a marriage record in the book, Missouri marriage to 1840, that shows a marriage between Jonathan Hilton and Margaret Fannin, on 9 Jan 1838 in Ralls county, Missouri. Could this be her? >> No, would not be the same one. Howard County Missouri, Marriage records Book 1 1816 to 1833 Jonithan Helton married Margaret Palmatery, 15 July 1831, Howard Co., MO, Book 1, Pg. 240 (This is a break, as I believe this is Jonathan Hilton, and the maiden name of Margaret was Palmatory) 1898 The Higbee News 29 Apr 1898--RENICK ITEMS--Mrs. Margaret Naylor died at the home of Jesse Kirby between Burton and Myres on April 22, 1898, at the ripe old age of 83 years, 4 months and 3 days. She was born in Kentucky on December 19, 1814. She first married Jonathan Hilton and subsequently Geo. T. Naylor, in 1838. By this marriage she had 3 sons and 2 daughters, all of whom are now living and married, save one daughter who died many years ago. Mrs. Naylor was step-mother to Rev. Silas B. Naylor, who has always with the most tender care and anxiety looked after the interests and welfare of his mother. Mrs. Naylor was buried in New Hope cemetery on Sunday the 24th, and services were conducted at the church, where a large number of friends and relatives were assembled to do honor and justice to the memory of one who was greatly esteemed and loved. Sister Naylor joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Mount Gilead, Howard county, early in the 40's, under the ministry of "Uncle" Billy Duncan, and continued up to the time of her death, a faithful and devoted member of the same church. We often see one remaining for some years a member of their first church but how very seldom does one remain for over half a century a member of the church into which she was baptized.®292 Howard County Missouri, Marriage records Book 2 1834 to April 1844 1838 George T. NAYLOR married Peggy HELTON , 8 Nov 1838, Book 2, pg 99 1838 George T. NAILOR, administrator of estate of Ignatius HILTON, dec'd, d. int. 11 Nov 1838. Sec: George T. NAILOR, William B. MUNRO, Stephen COX. $200. [from Howard Co. Wills and Administrations 1818-1840, compiled by Carolyn Bartels) I believe Ignatius Hilton is the same as Jonathan Hilton....only problem I see is that Ignatius Hilton died on 11 Nov 1838 and George and Margaret "Peggy" married on the 8th of Nov 1838. Maybe that was an application and not the actual marriage date. Either way..if it is the same couples...they were ready for old John to go.... Linda
Hi, I know this isn't exactly related to genealogy but since this list has gotten active, I'm wondering if anyone remembers a lady who lived outside of Higbee (maybe nearer Armstrong) up until the mid-1970's who sold Iris grown on her farm. I have wonderful memories of visiting her with my mother and sisters and occasionally an aunt or neighbor in the spring each year to pick new varieties for my mom's own Iris beds. I suspect she had been there for sometime even at my first visit I can remember at age 3 or 4 as my mother could not go far on backroads and not get lost. I have a list of some of my mom's iris and have wanted to transcribe this but know there are some missing. One of which is an Iris supposedly named for this lady. Jane DeBellis Milton, FL
My half-sister's grandfather was Russell Burton who owned Burton's Dry Cleaning. My sister ha beentrying to find info on her family. Her dad was Russell Junior Burton who graduated from Huntsville High with my mom Billie Jones about 1944. My grandfather was Lonnie Jones and grandmother Mary Corbin Jones. My grandmother and grandfather are burried in Huntsville Cemetery. Anyone have any info on these families. Rose I am too blessd to be stressed and too annointed to be disappointed.
Wilma, what was your mother's name. Agnes Carver was a good friend of my mother's also. At one time she only lived a block away from us. She also had a daughter Patricia who married Gene Robb. Yes that answers my question. From my research there was two branches of Burtons and unrelated in Randolph County. Our Burtons are the May Burtons of Orange Co., VA. So the Hawkins are connected in a distant way! Thank you! As probably a very worthless observation, there was once a Dr. in the Higbee area named Lascelleous (?) Dysart, who I believe practiced at Renick at one time, but definitely practiced in Higbee, having his home I believe on the corner that the 3 story Andrews Store occupied, more recently Higbee's auditorium that is now a day care center. He was of the Yates area Dysarts and I'm sure delivered countless babies, some, like your Bradley, winding up with his given name. Just an idea.
I'm really uncertain what the question being asked re Ruby Burton Hawkins is, but as for a "clan" she descends from May Burton of Orange Co, VA.
