The original landholders in the La Alameda land grant were Zarate y Bayarena and they sold a large part of that land grant to the Cantu family. The Morales probably married into either the Cantu or Zarate y Bayarena familes, or both. In my database I have the name of only one person you mentioned. That would be Petra Cantu but I don't know if she is the same person who married Manuel Morales. The Petra I have was the daughter of Secundino Cantu and Refugia Contreras, who lived in Los Villarreales ranch in Mexico, but she is related to the Cantus who bought the land in Encino. Many of the original settlers in southern Brooks County came from Los Villarreales, La Grulla and Camargo. Petra had 7 siblings named Wenceslado, Saturnino, Berto, Juana, Julia, Mateo, and Hilaria. If you think this might be the same Petra, you can email me directly.
