I think it is in our family history center. It won't be open again until next week. I'll try to remember to check into the exact title for you. I copied the article and would be glad to mail it to you if you include your address. It is quite long. The title of the article is "Nineteenth-Century Hippie. He was a preacher and a lawyer. He had been a circuit-riding preacher in Virginia and chaplin of the US Senate in Washington before moving to IA in 1850. He lived at Mount Pleasant for a number of years. He moved his family and library of 4,000 books to Putnam Co., MO in 1871. The library & many valuable papers were destroyed by fire in 1876. He died in MO. in 1887 at the age of 65. There is also a picture of him. The reason I copied this article is because he served as the lawyer for my husband's great-grandmother's suit against her husband for adultery. I could also copy those papers for you. Hope this helps. 3. List, Virginia and other... This seems to be a very helpful, responsive, active list. I am glad to find it. Virginia, I would be very interested in that little pamphlet on Henry Clay Dean. Thank you. Let me know if it is at your FHC. Everything I read shows him to be quite a character. I have some dates for him, but I am trying research his roots with that hope they might give clues to my ancestor, Nancy Dean. Thanks again. Glo
