    3. Part of the problem I've run across is that his name isn't listed in the cemetery listing books. My great grandmother (who lived to be about 96 yrs) used to visit his grave at the Hartford Cemetery. When he died, she couldn't afford a marker. She used some broken dishes for his gravestone. I have an aunt who visited his grave with my ggrandmother many times, who says the same thing that I've heard thru the years. He's buried on one side of my ggrandmother and her other husband is on the other side. I've talked with Mr. Pickering next door. I've also talked to the gentleman at the monument company. But since he uses the same book that the library has, my ggrandfather's name isn't in it. According to Mr. Pickering, there are people buried in the cemetery that they have no record of. When they get ready for a burial (or sell a burial site), he has to go out and put a rod in the ground to make sure there isn't a casket under the ground. I should have asked him about doing it while I was there, but he had already explained his wife wasn't well and I didn't want to impose on him any more than necessary at that point. I'll try writing the clerks office and see if they have a map of the cemetery. We're also planning on making the trip back there next year (if nothing else happens here) and possibly then I'll be able to see what I can find out. I thank all of you who have responded to my request. Oh, and the library also has a map of the county and each cemetery in the county is marked on it. Also the ones just inside Schuyler Co. Some of the cemeteries on the map are closed or on private property that no one can get to, but the map was invaluable when I was there. He has a list of all the Persons buried in the nearby cemeteries. His last name is Probasco. A very helpful gentleman. His business is located right on the square near the library and courthouse. I hope this will help someone. > >Taunji Stites Waterman >Gresham, Oregon > >
