Connie: You asked about James and Sabra Davis of Putnam County. They were natives of Clinton County, Kentucky. James was the son of John and Mourning (Guffey) Davis. Sabra I believe was a Hamilton. She was James' second wife. His first wife was Jennie Hopkins. She apparently died in Kentucky. My 3rd great grandparents were Dennis and Sarah (Davis) Hopkins, and they were the brother and sister of Jennie and James. The Davis', Jones', Hopkins', Guffey's and other families of the Hartford-Unionville area all came from the Wayne-Clinton County area of Kentucky and all seem to be related. You will find many of them buried in the Thompson and Pherigo Cemeteries plus many others in the area. A very good source on these families is "Early times in Clinton County" by Jack Ferguson.
