Local, 20 Aug 1890 A fatal accident occurred at Mendota Saturday in the forenoon. Fred O'CONNOR'S little son Marble, aged about 5 years and two other boys were playing on and near a flat car on the side track. The little O'Conner boy was sitting on the track near the car and the other boys were on the car. One of them loosened the brake and as the car was standing on a grade, it ran toward the boy who did not know what danger he was in and did not move. One arm and one leg were crushed off and after 18 hours death relieved the little fellow of his untold misery and pain. The remains were brought to this city, Monday and buried in the Catholic cemetery.
