    3. This obituary was listed in a 2 Jul 1890 issue of a Unionville newspaper. 2 Jul 1890 Obituary Judge Harmon B. KEENE, died at his home in Wilson township, June 29th, aged 72 years, 2 months and 15 days. Mr. Keene was born in Lincoln county, Kentucky, April 14, 1818. In his infancy, his parents moved to Putnam County, Indiana, where he was raised. From the latter place he moved to Fulton County, Ill., where he was united in marriage to Julianna PUTNAM. From Illinois, Mr. and Mrs Keene moved to Davis County, Iowa where they resided one year, moving from there to Putnam County where they have resided since. From about 1859 til 1865 Mr. Keene was associated with Samuel BRICE in the milling and mining business. FOr many years they conducted what was then familiarly known as the Blue Lake Mill on South Blackbird, about three miles from this city. Messrs.BRICE and Keene went back and forth from Pike's peak where they were interested in gold mines. They made some money in this business and finally in 1866 returned to their farms and have since been engaged in farming pursuits exclusively. In 1873 Mr. Keene was elected county judge, which position he filled in a most creditable manner for a couple of years. There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Keene nine children, seven of whom are living. William; Charles; Horace; Frank; Roscoe; Oscar and Albert. Will and Roscoe now reside in Dakota, the former arriving home in time to attend the funeral. Judge Keene was a good neighbor and a friend of the needy. He always had a kind workd for all, and hence had no enemies. He was a member of the M.E. church, Rev. Molesworth of that denomination, conducted the services and the remains were interred in the Lemen cemetery.
