    3. These are all deaths listed in the October 22, 1885 Unionville, MO newspaper. Locals, 22 Oct 1885 John W. MILLER, better known to many as "Big John, " died on Friday last at his residence one mile west of the old fairground, of softening of the brain. He was buried on Saturday with masonic honors. Mrs. Mary E. KIDWELL, wife of Alf. Kidwell, formerly of this city, died at the residence of her father, W.J. MANLEY, at Odell, Neb., on the 12th. A letter received states Mrs. Kidwell committed sucide. Friday last a shocking accident occurred near Mendota, which resulted in the death of Robert BRAMHALL'S little daughter aged about 7 years. The little girl was returning from school with a number of playmates and stopped to play about a brush fire, where her clothing caught on here. Before the flames could be extinguished her body was burned in such a horrible manner that she lived but a few hours. Charles EMBERTON, a lad thirteen years old, son of Judge Emberton last Friday was on a horse getting his fathers cattle out of the pasture. He was galloping along when the horse while passing a ditch stumbled and fell, throwing the boy over his head and when the horse was getting up he stepped on the boy twice, on the left breast and right side. From these injuries he died Saturday afternoon.
