27 Oct 1887 From a son who resides near Omaha, in Liberty township, we first learned of the death of Michael MILLER, which occurred Oct 16th in St. Clair County, where he had land about 2 years ago. He was 72 years of age. Pat RILEY, the Irishman who was shot at a dance at Mendota about three weeks ago by James MEDLIN, died on Monday morning last, and the remains were shipped to his relatives in Illinois for interment. Medlin is still at large and there seems to be little interest taken by our officers regarding the matter. We understand that Riley said before he died that he (Riley) was wholly to blame, and Medlins punishment should be made as light as possible.
