St. John, 26 Mar 1885 Samuel CAUL died at the residence of his father, March 24th at 3:10p.m. The servers were held the next day at the church. He was interred in the St. John Cemetery. Local, 26 Mar 1885 B.M. PATE, a brother of Rev. J.M. Pate of St. John was fatally injured at East St. Louis on the 6th. He was attempting to make a coupling, when he was caught between the cars and his breast crushed. He lived but a short time after the accident occurred.
