    2. And another: From the Feb. 15, 1933 issue of the Unionville Republican, Unionville, Mo. DAVID PRESTON BRUCE David Preston Bruce, little son of John and Pansy Bruce, passed away at the family home, west of town, at the age of three months and seventeen days. He is survived by four brothers, his parents and many other relatives and friends, one brother preceding him in death. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon by Rev. G.J. Hunsinger. Burial was made in the West Liberty Cemetary.

    2. Here's another one: From the April 26, 1933 issue of the Unionville Republican, Unionville, Mo. FRANK BLACKETER DIES           Word reached here Sunday to the effect that Mr. Frank Blacketer had dropped dead on the streets of some town in Kansas last Saturday afternoon. He is said to have been on his way to visit his son in Kansas, but stopped enroute to visit a cousin in the city where he died.           Details of his death are meager here. He is the son of Mrs. Mary Collins, of Unionville, and is related to several others here. Mrs. Collins was sent for, and she left for Braymer, Mo., which has been the home of Mr. Blacketer for about 35 years, it is understood. Mr. Blacketer was born east of Unionville about 59 years ago, and is well known to many residents of this county.

    2. The following posts are obits I have that were on the same page as the ones I needed when I made copies of my ancestors obits. I thought they might help someone. Also, I'm new to this mail list thing, so please be patient with me. (smile) Here's the first one: From the Feb 1, 1933 issue of the Unionville Republican, Unionville, MO. MA BUCK           The auditorium was filled last Friday afternoon with citizens who sympathetically paid their respect to Ma Buck in the last sad rites. This truly pioneer woman had made her good offices in life secure. Rev. M.A. Braun officiated. (Sermon info here)           Martha Howard Buck was born May 11, 1870 in Unionville, MO., and passed away January 10, 1933 at 3:20 at her home, of double pneumonia, being at the time of her death 62 years and 8 months of age.           She was converted in early life and united with the Christian Church and lived a consistent Christian life.           When she was 18 years of age she was united in marriage to Richard Wilson to which one daughter Dolly, was born, who both preceded her in death. On April 71, 1896 ((date as written in paper)), she was again united in marriage to Aaron Linn, who also preceded her in death. To this union was born four children: three sons, Bud, of New York City; Roy, of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; Bob, of Toledo, Ohio, and one daughter, Mrs. William Blythe, residing here. On July 15, 1915, she was again united in marriage to John L. Buck, whom she leaves to mourn her loss. Besides her husband and children, she leaves six grandchildren, two sisters: Mrs. W.T. Spence, of Unionville, Mo., Mrs. Ves Crewson, of Lafalette, Colo., and one brother Will Howard, of Olne.. ((rest unreadable)) Springs, Colo.,and a host of friends.           "Ma" Buck was a kind and loving mother and companion. She was loved by all who knew her. No person in the community will be missed more than "Ma" Buck, for she was a mother to everybody.

Powers, the republican candiate for Representative, died in his home in York township, Monday last. South Prairie, 23 Oct 1884 Peter LUNTSFORD youngest child died with diptheria. 27 Nov 1884, Obituary Died---On Nov. 22nd, 1884, Mrs Ann C. NIDAY, wife of Ointin NIDAY of St. John, Mo., aged 29 years, 5 months, and 27 days. The funeral service was held at the St. John church on the 24th. The subject of this sketch was a kind and obliging neighbor, a fond and loving mother, an affectionate and devoted wife. Peace to her ashes.

Graysville, 16 Oct 1884 On the 14th, the little son of Em SPARKS died and was interred in the Hogg grave yard. **note This child was born 1880 to Talton Emerson and Susanna HOGG Sparks.

She was buried Monday. Deceased had resided here since childhood except for the short time she reside in Putnam County,. Bereaved parents are Mr. and Mrs. J.S. LOWE, of Terra Haute, and her bereaved husband. Lemen, 18 Sep 1884 The infant daughter of the late Mrs. BLANCHARD died at the county poor farm last Thursday. ***note from me...I recall reading elsewhere, that this child was a twin, one of 5 children Mrs. Blanchard had. Martinstown, 18 Sep1884 Uncle Billy SMITH died Sunday afternoon, after a short illness in his 81st year. He leaves a widow and several children, and a large number of grandchildren to mourn his loss. His remains were buried at the Rose Graveyard on the 16th.

SHEPHERD, brother of W.G. Shepherd of this township died at his home in Syracuse, Neb., Aug. 34d. We have received an e xtended obituary notice of his death but owing to the crowded condition of our columns cannot publish it. Local, 4 Sep 1884 On Thursday afternoon while helping to switch at Sumner, John CARTER of Mendota, Mo., a brakeman on the C.B. & K.C. fell, the wheels passed over his right arm, crushing it to a pulp, also passing over his right leg and breaking it in 3 places. Dr. LANE, was at Hale at the time. An engine went for him immediately, but not having his amputating instruments, Mr. Carter was brought here. Surgical skill could not save him. He leaves a wife and two children. He was about 30 years of age. South Prairie, 4 Sep 1884 An infant child of R.W. BLACK, died on Wednesday evening last. St. John 4 Sep 1884 One of Charles KELLEY'S children died on the 26th of August.

This obit and death notice was published in a Unionville newspaper 28 Aug 1884. 28 August 1884, Obit Died---On Monday Evening, August 1, 1884. 85, at his residence in Central City of Bilious colic, Mr. Eleazer GRAY. Mr. Gray was born in Athens County, Ohio, Sept. 27, 1817. In 1852, he emigrated to the west and settled in Schuyler County, near the present site of Queen City, where he remained for several years. In 1869 he moved to the east end of this county and settled at the place now called Graysville. Five years ago he located at this place where he engaged in the mercantile business and continued at that business up to the time of his death. During his sickness he was attended by his son L. L. Gray who recently graduated in Medicine, assisted by Dr.'s CARLTON of St. John and BUNKER of this place. Mr. Gray leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss, besides hosts of friends who deeply sympathize with the bereaved family. By H.M.F. E. GRAY of this place, died at his residence of bilious colic, Monday. He was taken sick on Saturday. Mr. Gray was buried at the Torrey cemetery Tuesday. He was a mercant and well known all over the county and leaves a large circle of friends.

    3. 28 August 1884, Obit MORRIS---Amanda J. Morris, wife of William R. Morris was born in Van Buren County, Iowa Oct. 10, 1884. Died at West Liberty, Putnam Co. Mo., Aug 19, 1884. At the age of 16 years she joined the Baptist church in which she lived for 24 years. She then joined the U.B. Church until last Jan when she united with the M.E. Church at West Liberty, Mo. She was a loving and affectionate wife and mother. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her death but their loss is her eternal gain. The funeral took place, at the M.E. church at West Liberty, Mo., at 11:00. Not withstanding the inclemency of the weather, quite a crowd gathered at the church to pay the last tribue of respect to her memory. by J.M. PATE

St. John, 21 Aug 1884 On Saturday, the 16th, while R.E. TORREY'S threshing machine was in operation near the residence of Judge Wm. A. ELLIS, George CALLISON, the Judges grandson, aged about 14 years attempted to get on the horse-power and fell under one of the levers, which passed over him, badly crushing him on the frame below. His injuries proved to be fatal for he died on Monday morning, the 18th, and was buried at Wyreka in the evening. The victim was making his home with Judge Ellis, his mother and father both being dead. Central City, 21 Aug 1884 S. METZ lost their youngest child which was buried at the Central City grave yard Monday. Martinstown, 28 Aug 1884 Died--on the 22nd of croup, the youngest child of John MCFARLAND, aged 11 months.

    3. 21 Aug 1884, Obit Mrs. Susan HOWARD, wife of Eli Howard, died Sunday morning, August 17th, 1884, at the residence of S.D. SHATTUCK, in St. John, Putnam Co. Mo. She was born in Piqua Co. Ohio, Sept 30th, 1818. In early life she with her father moved to Indiana. She married Eli Howard in 1837 and in 1850 they came to PutnamCo. Mo. Her maiden name was Susan WATT. On the 10th of April 1853, her husband started for the gold fields of California, where he expected to make a fortune, but likely failed for he has never returned. He wrote to her occasionally til June 1865, since which time, nothing is known of him. She was left in very poor circumstances and has battled ever since for the comforts of life. She was a marvel of energy and management and raised her five boys and one girl in the best of society, giving all of them a fair education. She was buried in the St. John Cemetery on Monday, by a large and mourning assemblage of relatives and friends.

    3. My great aunt, Flossie Hudson, married a Brisco "Bick" BRANSON. They lived in the vicinity of Hartford. Does anyone have any data on the BRANSON surname in Putnam Co? I think BRANSON at one time had a lot of Quakers in the family.
