BETHLEHEM CEMETERY Located: off Hwy T, 3 miles south of Swedeborg. There are several Manes in this cemetery including John & Adeline J.A. Manes 8 Apr 1848 - 1 May 1935 same stone as Mary A. Mary A. Manes 14 Jun 1847 - 7 Nov 1932 same stone as J.A. OBITUARY Mary Adaline Manes was born June 14, 1847 in Green County, Illinois, and departed this life March 7, 1932. Age at time of death 84 years, 8 months and 23 days. When about five years of age she came to Missouri with her parents and settled near Swedeborg where she lived out her life as one of the pioneers of this county. She was married to John Aaraon Manes the 16th day of December, 1869 on the farm where she died; having lived at the same place practically all her life. To this union were born ten children, a boy and a girl died in infancy. One granddaughter was added to this number of children when she was fourteen months old, Mrs. Gusta Brown, who was treated as one of their own children. The husband and seven of their own children survive to mourn their loss. Henry Manes departed this life in 1926. The surviving children are: Mrs. Myra Roam of Swedeborg; Jim Manes of Washington, Frank Manes of Waynesville; Ed and Bob Manes, Swedeborg; Rev. Chas. D. Manes, St. Clair, Mo., and Bert Manes of Springfield, Mo., and the granddaughter, Mrs. Gusta Brown of Richland. She was converted at the age of 24 and united with the old Bethlehem Church, now known as the present Swedeborg Church, being among the first members of the church, and lived a faithful, consecrated christian life, dying in the full triumph of a living faith. She was a devoted, loving companion, a faithful mother, untiring in service for her children. There are 32 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the Swedeborg Church Tuesday by Jesse O. Brown and Geo. W. Payne. A large congregation was in attendance. The funeral service was in charge of R.B.
