Surnames: Bennett, Connors, Strain Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UNB.2ACI/1037 Message Board Post: Mrs. Amanda Strain Bennett Amanda Strain was born in Mercer county, Pennsylvania, July 11, 1836, and died at her home in Crocker, Mo., December 4, 1916, aged 80 years, 4 months, 23 days. In 1852 she moved to Ohio with her parents and on April 18, 1861, she married Jacob Bennett at Ottawa, Ohio. To this union four children were born, all of whom are still living: They are Thomas E, Galesburg, Ill., Mary F. Connors, O’Neill, Nebr., Albert E., Crocker, and Norman W., St. James, Minn. All of her children were present at the funeral. In 1877 she with her husband moved from Ohio to Clearfield, Iowa, where they made their home until 1900, when they went to Aitkens, Minn. They came to Crocker in 1905. Mr. Bennett died February 14, 1911. Mrs. Bennett united with the Presbyterian church when she was sixteen years old and has lived a consistent Christian life since. Funeral services were held at the Bennett home Tuesday and were in charge of her pastor, Rev. G. F. Bell of the Presbyterian church, after which the body was laid to rest in the Crocker cemetery.
