Alexander McCourtney md Nancy Ball first, then Emelia unknown. He was the son of Alexander and Comfort Davidson. Alexander and Nancy Ball McCourtney had 2 known children - John M. and Sarah. I don't know if he had children with Emelia. William R. McCourtney md Margaret Ball, sister of Nancy, and they had a son but I don't have his name. William R. is also the son of Alexander and Comfort Davidson. Nancy and Margaret are the daughters of John Ball and Mary Eoff. I descend from James McCourtney and Sarah 'Sallie' unknown. He is a brother of Alexander who md Comfort Davidson. James and Alexander are the sons of John McCourtney and Hannah unknown. The Alexander and Comfort Davidson McCourtney line is fairly well documented. I can put you in contact with a McCourtney researcher who descends from this line - she has a good amount of documentation. My Hannah McCourtney, daughter of James and Sarah 'Sallie' McCourtney, md John Bittick. After James died, Sarah 'Sallie' married again. I have the court papers from his estate, etc. I'm not familiar with the Duke and Big Piney area of Missouri. Or, the McCourtney land that became part of Ft Leonard Wood. My McCourtney's were in the St Louis, Franklin and St Charles counties area very early. I have Wilson's in my line who were from the Jefferson Co area of Missouri. At this point in McCourtney research - I've been at it since about 1989 - I'll take any info you're willing to share!<g> They all have to go back to John and Hannah unknown McCourtney at some point in time - or, at least that's what I think. I'll look up the James McCourtney you mentioned in the 1860. I don't believe I've ever seen anything of Robert's research. Can you fill me in on who he is, etc? Thankx, Mar
