Judy, thanks so much for the information. No I am not a Carmack descendent. My gg grandfather is Jesse Riddle (1815-1861) brother to Thomas Riddle. I had heard my Dad tell the family story about his great Uncle getting shot while hunting, not I know who he was talking about. Did the Carmack and Riddle family move from Bledsoe Cty about the same time? Are any of your Carmack family buried in the Riddle cemetery? She married Thomas Riddle abt 1828 in Bledsoe County. Thomas was accidently killed by the discharge of his gun while hunting, in 1835. The gun was leaning against a tree and it was knocked down by his dog, and the lock sprung. ("History of the Ancient Ryedales" by G. T. Ridlon, 1884).
