Since you have chosen to make your "statement" to the list, then I am forced to respond to the list. As the ListAdministrator it is my responsibility to set up rules for the list. When you join you receive a welcome letter with these rules. The message you posted has nothing to do with the sharing of your family history. While the information you forwarded IS important to many who do not research sites before "blindly" joining, it IS available in a myriad of places, including the Rootsweb Review which is received by anyone who is a member of a Rootsweb list, it is NOT necessary to post it to each individual list. There is no reason to use precious resources to repeat the same information over and over. While I respect the fact that you are entitled to your opinion. It should have been expressed off the list, as it states in your welcome letter. I have received many complaints about your original post but only one complaint because I asked that the discussion not continue from the list - you. ATTENTION: this discussion WILL NOT CONTINUE on this list. There are other venues available to continue this discussion including privately. Any further posts will be considered a violation of list rules and members will be put in "moderate" mode so that I can view their posts before forwarding them on to the list. This list runs so smoothly that it saddens me when people can follow a few simple rules.
