Hello Judy French: Your are almost correct. Big Piney is very close to the boundary of Fort Leonard Wood, but not quite. As as young boy, I often could hear the sounds of the artillery as the soldiers practiced and the rat-tat-tat of automatic weapons. The last time that I visited Big Piney, where I was born, the roads were still gravel. Pavement stopped short just past the Hopewell Church which is slightly south of where Big Piney used to be.
