By 1870, Mathew McDaniel (b. 1817 VA) and his spouse Jemima Black McDaniel (b. 1825 VA), were living in Big Piney. Mathew was a Justice of the Peace. Their children were: Henry, Leonadis, John, Margaret/Margaritta, Louise, and Herman Edward. Leonadis McDaniel married Charlotte Mary Brumble. By about 1900, Leonadis and Charlotte had moved on to Oklahoma.
