    3. Thank you so much Kelly. If anyone sent any information between the end of August and now to the CC Belenda (or to me and I refused it because I wasn't CC), please resend directly to me at shirleyscott@juno.com Also, if anyone would like to be a co-CC and help with site updates, etc. That would be appreciated. 2. Shirley A Scott
    3. Since we cannot seem to find the ListAdmin for this group, I have started a group that will work with the Pulaski Co MOGenWeb site. You can check out the group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MOPulaski/ There is also one for Maries Co MOGenWeb since I have had to take that county back also. The group is at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MOMaries/ The websites should be updated and back in service later this week. I do apologize to each and every one of you. I had thought I had turned the county over to someone who had an interest in continuing the work. Even though I still don't have a lot of extra time, I have a love for Pulaski and Maries counties and will work on making them the best resource possible for researchers in these counties. I have not been able to return as ListAdmin and BoardAdmin for Pulaski. We can just hope that the ListAdmin and BoardAdmin will work with me so that we can bring the site back up to the way it was. Please have patience during this process as I still don't have any more hours in the day. 2. Hi Conor, A new book has just been put out, "Made in the Timber, a Settlement History of the Fort Leonard Wood Region", by Steven D. Smith. On the 23 and 24 of this month the author had book signings at Waynesville. The book publication was sponsored by Fort Leonard Wood Directorate of Public Works and the Pulaski County Historical Society. You might find this of interest. -Mark Vernon Seattle, WA

    1. [MOPULASK] Magazine article on Waynesville Area
    2. Conor Watkins
    3. I recall reading about a Time or Life Magazine article published on the Waynesville area based on the growth of Ft. Leonard Wood. I am not sure of the exact date but think it was sometime in the 1950's. From what I read, it was much like the article that National Geographic did two years ago on the Steelville area (http://web.umr.edu/~cwatkin/cwome/article33 <http://web.umr.edu/~cwatkin/cwome/article33&34combined.htm> &34combined.htm). I was wondering if anyone here might know what magazine and issue this came from. I would like to look it up and give it a read. 1. [MOPULASK] Pulaski County Historical Questions relating to both Devil's Elbow and the four proposed Gasconade River dams.
    2. Conor Watkins
    3. I have two questions relating to Pulaski County. I know that four sizeable dams were proposed along the Gasconade River in the early 1930's. These were to be located near the towns of Rich Fountain, Vienna, Arlington, and Richland. The Gasconade would have essentially become four large lakes. I have been unable to find all of the information on this topic but understand that the project was scaled back to just two dams by the 1950's and was eventually eliminated all together. I was wondering if anyone here has any information about the history of this project. I have written about some of it at http://web.umr.edu/~cwatkin/cwome/article23 <http://web.umr.edu/~cwatkin/cwome/article23&24combined.htm> &24combined.htm. Also, I am interested in the Devil's Elbow area (mentioned in the link above and several others on my webpage). I have repeatedly discovered that the Missouri Planning Commission considered this to be one of the "seven scenic wonders of Missouri." I certainly can't disagree but I would like to find the publication stating this. If anyone knows more about either of these topics, the information would be appreciated. I don't know how much help I can be, but I will try. First of all there are obituaries available for both Thomas and his wife Lovey or Lovy. Do you have those? If not would you like them? They might shed some light on who Thomas's parents. There are a couple of discrepancies on Thomas M. The obituary book says it is Thomas M. but in the headstone inscription book it says that M. T. West is what is on the headstone. Also, you show his birth year as 1845, but both the headstone book and obituary book say he was born in 1844. I can't get to the library this week, but I can next week. There are some other books down there that might have some additional information. Let me know if and what you need and I will see what I can do. Also I can get those obituaries at that time if you need them. Mary
