It was in the Dec. 29, 1921 issue of the Crocker News. Here is what it said: Mrs. Lu Phillips died Saturday at her home near Waynesville after a short illness from blood poisoning. Mrs. Phillips was well known here and had many friends regret to hear of her death. I looked in several issues after to see if there was a better obituary but there wasn't. I haven't heard from you, so I don't know what other or kind of information you are looking for. There is an obituary available for Nancy Margaret Phillips, but I didn't get it as I didn't hear back from you. If you decide you do, let me know and I will get it next Friday when I go to the library again. Mary Case

I'm in the same boat as Kate with this techie stuff but if OK with you I would try to post Sydney's picture as well to get your opinion on possible Indian heritage. Stories written about my GG Grandfather, Joseph Wrinkle (Sydney's father), say that he came from Kentucky. There were also three Wrinkle brothers in the LA area who owned plantations & slaves. I'm still on my quest so any help is truly appreciated. Regards, Leah

Sure wish I could help you, but I can't. I'd like to see that Cookville store also. If you are able and willing to point out where the Schaap home was, I sure would like to locate it. Do you happen to have any physical description of section numbers or anything else? I'm guessing it was in section 22 or section 16. I have a picture of my Great Great Uncle, Sydney Wrinkle, born in Ontario, Canada. He is very dark. His father was an excaped slave, possibly from the Kentucky area, who made his way to Canada in the late 1840's. Others who saw the picture thought there may also be some Indian heritage there. Hmmm, interesting & food for thought. Would like to hear if you have found any further information. Kind Regards, Leah

This is not my family, I am just a volunteer looking up in the books I have for other people. What I show is that John R. Burchard was the son of James Harvey and Margaret (Lewis) Burchard. Apparently, James was killed by bushwhackers in 1863. So John R. and your Louisiana were brother and sister. Be sure to read my two reply's as there is some information in there you might be interested in. Both James and Margaret are buried in the Burchard Cemetery which I am told is in extremely bad condition. Your Louisiana is also buried there, but her husband Daniel is not listed. Here is what is the headstone inscription book: James H. Burchard 15 May 1815 - 17 Aug 1863 Margaret Burchard 1827 - 12 Jun 1909 (apparetnly they were unable to read the rest of the birth date) Louisiana Phillips 8 Nov 1857 - 17 Sep 1921 There is an obituary available for Louisiana, but not for her parents. If you want it, I will get it as soon as possible. There is a large amount of snow headed our way, so I am not sure when that will be. Let me know if you want it or not. Mary Case

In the 1870 census, he is in Maries County. My main interest is in Lucinda Riley, age 12, shown in his household in 1870.
My ggg-grandparents, Samuel James and Elizabeth (HELMS) HARDESTER / HARDISTER are believed to have died and were buried in the Waynesville, Pulaski County area on their farm...wherever that may have been. Researching at the Missouri State Archives shows Samuel (b. ca 1790 in NC) noted in the 1840 Pulaski County census, but he cannot be located anywhere in any census after 1840. His wife, Elizabeth (b. ca 1807 in KY), appears in the 1850, and 1860 (Township 36 Range 10) census, but is nowhere to be noted after that. Her son, John (b. ca 1838 in MO), was noted living with his mother in the 1860 census, but like his mother, cannot be located after 1860. Since no grave site has yet been located for either Samuel, Elizabeth, or John, they may well have been buried on the family farm. On the chance those graves had to be moved, is anyone familiar with Missouri laws regarding a grave being moved and the re-interment of the body elsewhere (you know - for "progress"). Is a record of exhumation and re-interment kept at any specific level of government (state/county/local?)? Any help appreciated! Mike

They were William Edward, Albert Winfield, Claude H., John Thomas, Lee Mary, Walter Luther, and Fora Dora Elizabeth. Yes that is what the book says. I THINK there was another child born to them, Charles B. that died at 3 years old. I don't know how these people are related to Elizabeth Bostick, maybe a brother and sister-in-law, but there is a James T. and May Bostick buried in the Crocker Cemetery, in Crocker, MO, which isn't to far from the cemetery that Elizabeth and John are buried in. There is an obituary available for James T. Bostick and the abstract just says that he was the son of Bunyan Bostick of England. As I said, if these are your people, I will get James Bosticks obituary next Friday also.

I live in Pulaski County and have several books about Pulaski County and I do look-ups for people. From these various books, here is the information that I came up with on Elizabeth Bostick. She married John Riley Burchard on 11-24-1878. John was born 10-25-1848 and he died 11-10-1935. Elizabeth N. or Eliza which is what is on her headstone, was born in 1862 and died in May of 1939. Both are buried in the Mitchell Cemetery which is about 4 miles east of Crocker, MO. The obituary abstract book says that their obituaries are available. If these people are your ancestors and you want their obituaries, send your snail mail address to my e-mail address. I go to town on Fridays and I will get them then. Eliza was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star and John was a charter member of the Masons. John was also a charter member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church. They were also caretakers for the local "poor farm".
