    1. [MOPULASKI] Some Department of the Interior Web sites Off-line
    2. Mike Hardester
    3. For those trying to access the Bureau of Land Management website or other Department of the Interior web sites and come up with " The page cannot be displayed," the reason can be found here: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/techpolicy/2004-03-18-firstnations-schools_x.htm Basically, a federal judge ordered the sites closed, in part, because..."of security holes that could have jeopardized hundreds of millions of dollars in royalties from Indian lands managed by the Interior Department." This may take some time.

Please contact me at my e-mail address marysdandy@yahoo.com and give me your home address so I can send these out to you. I think I gave you the wrong date for Oscar's birth, it should be 05-09-1904. So far I haven't found a connection to Augustus. I have been able to locate of Oscar's wife is her name was Bertha J. Watson and she was born 02-05-1913. As of the printing date of my headstone inscription book of 1995, Betha's death date wasn't on the stone. She might have remarried and is buried next to her second husband but I don't know who it might have been. Oscar's notice in the paper didn't have much information in it and I am going to check in a couple of other papers after that date and see if there is a better obit. If I do locate a different one, I will get back in touch with you. The obit for Augustus did not give a name for his wife, only his children. The obit stated his name as Augustus C. but the headstone says A. W. Schoonover. I don't know why the middle initials are different. The obit does list one of his children as A. W. and that is where the confusion might have came from. Mary

I took a couple headstone pictures as well on my way home, but I don't think they are going to turn out. The stone was small and ruff and the lettering didn't show up very good. If you don't mind, I think I will send the obits out to you now, so they don't get lost. When I get the film developed, I will have to see if anything even shows up worth sending. In any event, I will get back with you on the pictures in a couple of weeks and if something turns out, I will just e-mail it to you. But for now, I will need your address to mail out the obits. The John Borders I knew was the engineer on the Frisco Railroad. He drove what we called the local train. The local would go from town to town picking up the empty boxcars. When the train would stop near our house we would talk or wave to John Borders. To say Nathaniel Borders was a colorful character is probably an understatement of the facts. My Dad , who seemed to know Nathaniel quite well, said that he lost his arm fishing. He held a shot of dynamite a little longer then the alloted time of the fuse.

Another question, where in Missouri is Pulaski Co? North or South, East or West? I don't have an atlas right now. Thanks! Lori in MN.

One other question. Over at the Dixon Cemetery, there is a Oscar C. Schoonover buried there. Is he also a relation of yours? The headstone reads 9 May 1904 - 23 Dec 1968. Also on the same stone is his wife Bertha J. 2 Feb 1913 but doesn't have a death date on it. Let me know if he is your relation or not. Dixon is to far away for me to get a headstone picture, but I could possibly get an obituary on him. Mary

You would have to check with the Pulaski County Museum and Historical Society at PO Box 144, Waynesville, MO 65583. I am not for sure on the price, but I am thinking about $25. I will be glad to look up any person that you think might be buried in Pulaski Co. as I have a book here at my house. I will get the headstone picture as soon as I can. We have had a medical crisis in the family and I am needed at two places at the same time. I also have several pictures left on this roll of film to take, but I will get it for you. Also I wanted to mention the the Cemetery name is Idumea not Iduema. I don't know if if was a typing error or you weren't sure on the spelling. AND, do you have his obituary already? If not, there is one available for him and I can also get that for you, but there again, it may take me a week or so to work a library trip into my schedule. If you aren't in a big hurry, I will be glad to get ! it also. Mary
