I am trying to locate the old ghost town of Wayman. I understand it was a village SE of Waynesville. It was named for a pioneer family. It was abandoned by 1938 and has a cemetery associated with it. I suspect it was near Spring Creek Cemetery, somewhere in section 16: http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=37.76250&lon=-92.02583&datum=NAD27&s=50&size=l Anybody know for sure where it was? I realize that it does not mean that they were not buried in Pulaski County, just that they do not have grave markers. I found that to be the case with other ancestors who died around that same time in other areas. Jayne

I don't know if any of it will help you or not, but thought I would send it to you anyway. Mary "Hello Mary: Just for the heck of it, I looked on Yahoo for small pox 1918 Pulaski County, Missouri. That brought up a site for the Springfield, Missouri library. I clicked on it and found a lot of interesting things. About half way down the list of things on this site, I found several deaths in 1918 and small pox was mentioned. I am guessing there was some sort of small pox outbreak in 1918. Several are indicated to have died of small pox with an 1918* . There are a lot of birth dates, dates of death, some marriages and other information. If you have the time it might pay to take a look. I also typed in small pox 1918 Missouri and found other lists for small pox, some by city, state and date. Could help the person that asked the question. I hope this helps some."

I did not find any mention of the small pox outbreak that you mentioned in either of the history books that I have. Sorry. Mary

It says Samuel G. W. Hiatte, Jul 1835 - after 1900. Either that is what it says on the stone or the person that was reading and writing down what it said, was not able to read the last two numbers. Samuel's wife's stone is incomplete as well. It says, Elizabeth Hiatte, 19 Jun 1844 - ?? Jan ????, it also has "wife of S. C. W. As bad a shape as the stone is probably in, the "C" was probably a G. Joiner Cemetery is near Crocker, MO, which is in Pulaski County. It is off the road in someone's field. It is all the way across the county from where I live. I do not get there often, so I am unable to get a headstone picture for you. Mary

My Hyatt's come from Buncombe Co., NC (Meshack) from Burke Co. NC (Hezekiah and Mary) and then from Md. (Seth) I have found out that Meshack died in Puliski Co. Dec. 1833. I am looking for any information about him that I can find. I don't know who he was married to or really much of nothing. Robert Burchfield Hyatt married Lucinda Wood, then after her death he married Martha Turner. They eventually moved back to NC after moving from Mo. to Ga. Robert would be my 4x great grandpa. If you should happen to have any info on any of the above..no matter how trivial..I would appreciate it. And if I can help you in anyway, please let me know. Thanks, Terri

And I placed Milton's son Daniel as being the husband of Rachel Sullens/Sullins when in fact Rachel was the wife of his brother, Daniel. (It's been a long day, mea culpa) As far as the article from the Tribune Republic, I copied it exactly as it appears in the St. Louis Genealogical Society's quarterly volume 18. The article was taken from early Franklin Co newspaper columns with the notation from someone at SLGS regarding the error of the dates in this publication. I'll correct everything tomorrow. Sorry for the screw-up! Contact Digginupkin@aol.com. She is definitely researching the Sullins/Sullens surname and would be interested in what you might have to offer her. She is descended from Robert F. Sullins and Emily Hiatt, Wilson Hiatt's daughter.
