    3. Hosea M. Sneed was born April 15, 1845 in Ozark County, Arkansas. He died on October 26, 1878 in Big Piney, Pulaski County, Missouri. Hosea was 33 years, 6 months and 11 days old when he died. He married Lydia Jane Page on May 08, 1872 in Big Piney, Pulaski County, Missouri. She was born January 17, 1853 in Franklin County, Indiana and died October 23, 1896. After Hosea died, she married William Walton McDonald. Lydia Jane Page was the daughter of Silas Messer Page Charlotte Johnson. Hosea and Lydia had the following children: 1. Harvey Monroe Sneed was born on May 20, 1873 and died December 13, 1934 in Big Piney, Pulaski County, Missouri. He was a Justice of the Peace and an auctioneer and died in California. 2. Silas Marion Sneed was born on October 18, 1875 and died September 29, 1897 in Big Piney, Pulaski County, Missouri. 3. Isaac Newton Sneed was born on May 27, 1878 in Big Piney, Pulaski County, Missouri and died on June 26, 1881 in Big Piney, Pulaski County, Missouri. Isaac was 3 years and 29 days old when he died Henry Mitchell Sneed was born April 19, 1850 in Ozark County, Arkansas and died June 19, 1912 in Hardy, Sharp County, Arkansas. He was married to Elizabeth Mariah Page on April 19, 1872 in Big Piney, Pulaski County, Missouri. Elizabeth Mariah Page and Lydia Jane Page were sisters and I am assuming that because Henry and Hosea were from the same location in Arkansas, that they were brothers. I do have additional information on their seven children. Yours truly, Wayne

    3. While trying to verify that this was the "same" James Sneed; I found also in this Izard Co., AR census Elbert Benbrook the brother of Mary (Benbrook) Sneed. So possibly after the death of first wife moved to AR where his uncle was living. I next found James M. and family in the Dent County, MO census in 1870. Listed below: 1870 Federal Census Dent County, Missouri (File 6 of 10) 10 107 107 Sneed J.M. 52 M W Minister 300 KY X 11 107 107 Sneed Elizabeth 51 F W Keeping House AL 12 107 107 Sneed Henry 20 M W Farm Laborer AR X 13 107 107 Sneed Asariah 17 M W Farm Laborer AR X 14 107 107 Sneed O.T. 15 M W Farming AR X X 15 107 107 Sneed John 13 M W Farming IL X X 16 107 107 Sneed N.L. 11 F W At home IL It should be noted that wife Elizabeth is listed as being born in 3 different states in 3 different census. 1850-AR, 1860-TN, & 1870-AL. I believe; but haven't checked actual census from 1860; that the Owen F listed in the 1860 IL census is in fact Owen T. (for Thomas) It is also listed in the 1870 census as O.T. Also, the Occupation listed for James M. Sneed (Minister) would explain a lot of the moving around. I also believe that the "Moses M." listed for the 1860 IL census is "Hoseah M." as is listed in the 1850 Izard Co., AR Census. Definitely have to check out the ACTUAL census for 1860. OKAY on to my family. O. T. Sneed (Owen Thomas) born 1855. Son of James M. & Elizabeth Sneed married on 11/4/1883 Abi Hendricks (Hendrix) born 5/23/1864 in Rush Co., IN. She was the daughter of Alexander Hendrix and Mary Honeycutt. Owen Thomas and Abi Sneed had the following children: Herbert E. HENDRIX born abt 1882 died 9/11/1902 per his mothers obituary; POSSIBLY BORN OUT OF WEDLOCK. Raised by his grandparents. Zina E. born 9/12/1884 died 12/1966 in Greene Co., MO per SSN records Perry E. born 2/9/1885 per death certificate. (See Below) Estella May born 12/7/1888 died 9/14/1889. Age 9 months and 7 days. Buried Watts Lawn Cemetery. John J. Watts officiating. Alexander H. Leroy L. As of 1902 only 4 were living: Zina E., Perry E., Alex. H., & Leroy L. Perry E. Sneed is my great grandfather. His death certificate lists his parents as Thomas Sneed (born AR)and Abi Hendricks (from MO) Perry E. Sneed married Martha (Mattie) Cordelia Lewis in 1907 in Marionville, Lawrence Co., MO. Children: Vernie Sneed Henry Thomas Sneed (living in CO) Edna Lee Sneed Efton Earl Sneed (my grandfather; died 7/1955 Olive Sneed (married Clarence Kilbourne) Sources for some of the above information: From the Phelps Co. 3. --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: "Susan Long" <[email protected]> I posted this to "GENFORUM" this morning. Susan Long ************************************** Hello, I THINK I have found my SNEED family! My grandfather died when I was 1 month old, in 1955; and his father died at the age of 33 in 1918 during the influenza outbreak, SO this family has been hard to find because I had very little info. to go on. Here is where I am right now. Elijah Perry Sneed m. Mary Benbrook; daughter of Ezekiel Benbrook and Mary Meguiar James M. Sneed born Abt. 1817 in Kentucky Married 1) Sarah BLACKBURN 07 November 1836 in Allen, Kentucky From "Notes from Nova Lemon" on previous posts: "My research shows that there were 2 James M. Sneeds of Hamilton county, Illinois. On the 1840 Hamilton Co. census, James Sneed (b c1810-1820) was listed with a wife (b 1810-1820), one male child and one female child, both born c1835-1840. He was the only James Sneed listed on this census. They were not on the 1850 census. The 1860 Hamilton co. census shows: 335-335 SNEED,James M. 45 KY(b. 1815) Elizabeth 40 TN(b 1820) Malinda J. 20 IL (b 1840) Moses M. 14 IL (b 1846) SIMONS,William R. 14 AR(b 1846) Sarah A. 12 AR Martha E. 11 (or 10) AR Henry 9 AR Azariah 7 AR Owen F. 5 AR John R. 2 IL "The oldest son (and twin of Malinda?), James M. Sneed, Jr. (born abt 1840, IL) was living with his wife Matilda Miller (married 23 July 1859 in Hamilton Co.) and her family." Married 2) Elizabeth (Maiden Name Unknown) Simons probably in Arkansas. From the 1850 Izard County Arkansas Census: 271 SNEED James M. 33 IL Farmer Elizabeth 28 AR Malinda J. 12 IL Hoseah M. 5 IL William R. 5 AR Angeline 4 AR Martha 3 AR Henry 6/12 AR ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 3. If you will go to my web site, www.geocities.com/Heartland/Woods/5143 you will see a picture of the old stagecoach stop. I may have a picture somewhere of the old Baker Hotel and maybe the Bell. 3. The only hotel that I can think of that is a landmark is the "Old Stagecoach Stop", but that was built in the late 1800's I believe. I can remember two others, the Baker Hotel, but it was torn down many years ago, and the Bell Hotel, which was purchased by the Walters Family and is now the Waynesville, Memorial Chapel. That is all that is and was in Waynesville, that I know of. That is why I am interested in the Crossland picture that you have, especially if it is a picture of her family. Thanks, Shirley in Texas [email protected]
