Hi Kelly, Sorry not to write sooner. I get so busy sometimes, and just can't get back to email until weekends. I'm afraid I know only what you know. Charles Isaiah JONES was born 30 July 1879 in Calloway Co. MO to Earl Franklin JONES and Martha FOSTER, and died 12 Nov 1935 in Crocker. Earl was born in Camden Co. MO. I haven't proven any of it except with the death certificates, which I also have. Some of the information came from my mother-in-law, like Earl's middle name. Your determination to look at every Jones family in mid-Mo. until you get the right one is great. I haven't done much except look at a portion of the censuses a few years ago. I looked in 1880 Pulaski Co. (Cullen, Liberty, Piney, Tavern, and Union townships only), but didn't find JONES or FOSTER. (I did find a lot of the other names I was looking for, Carmack and Payne.) In 1900, Pulaski Co. (Cullen, Liberty, Roubidoux, Tavern, and Union townships only), I found several Jones families, but not ours. In 1910, Pulaski Co., I only looked in Cullen and Tavern, and apparently found no Joneses there. Then I tried Calloway Co. in 1880. I don't think I checked it systematically, but do have several JONES and 9 heads of FOSTER families written down, although I don't know if any of them are significant. I didn't find Earl and Martha anywhere. With so many Fosters, it seems like a good place to look in 1870 for Martha and Earl living with their parents, but I haven't done it yet. I also would like to exchange information with you about our families -- names, dates, places, anything else that seems interesting or pertinent. My only wish and stipulation is that you never send it to a database or post it on the Internet. It's strictly for your personal use. I would treat anything you send me in the same way. My husband, Jim, descends from daughter Pansy May. She was born 23 January 1904 in either Waynesville or Crocker (my mother-in-law Dorothy didn't know which), Pulaski Co. She married Eugene "Gene" McNeil Wray on 19 July 1921 in Springfield, Mo. They were married by Earl W. Wingo, Minister of the Gospel (I don't know what church, possibly Presbyterian). They divorced, but I don't know when or where. They had 4 children. Gerald Junior Wray, born 3 May 1922 in Springfield, married Jewell Adelle (Pat) Pickett on 16 Feb 1945. James Edward (Jimmie), born 17 July 1924 in Springfield, married Dorothy Lee Gallagher on 6 Aug. 1946. (These are Jim's parents.) Betty Jean Wray, born 1 Sept. 1929 in Springfield, married Kenneth Fuzzell (accent on 2nd syllable) on 17 April 1949. Caroll Joann Wray, born 12 Oct. 1934 in Springfield, married Robert Earl Compton on 10 Dec. 1949. She died 5 July 1966. Pansy married a 2nd time on 12 May 1945 to Charles "Charlie" Theodore Lovewell, born 13 May 1897 in Bradley,. OK. They had a long and happy marriage, but no children. Pansy died 13 Sept. 1993 in Springfield. I don't know when Charlie died. He may have been married once before Pansy, but I'm not sure. Eugene married a 2nd time also, don't know to whom or if they had children. He died 12 Feb 1974 in Springfield, & is buried at Maple Park Cemetery. His parents were Joseph "Joe" Wray (formerly RAY, but it was changed after he was married) and Missouri Frances Haskett. Jimmie and Dorothy have two children, my husband, Jim, Jr. and his sister, Janet Lee ("Jan"), both born in Springfield (1947 and 1952). Jan is married, lives in Oregon, and has no children. Jim and I (I am Cheryl Christine Menninger, born 1944) have 3 children, Sarah, Christopher, and Hannah. All are still in school. We live at 1014 N. Colorado Ave., Hastings, NE 68901, phone 402-461-3469. I'd love to hear from you and learn about your family. We know next to nothing about them, just that Opal married John (middle name?) Hall, and they had children Charles and Virginia. I didn't know Opal's middle name was Marie. So what you send will be most welcome. Could some kind soul look to see if there is an obituary for a cousin who died this past week? I'm not even sure if there would be one there, because I'm not sure just where he died. His name was Donald Raymond Fordyce? He was a brother to Esther Mattoon from Crocker. I would appreciate any help with this. Thanks Cheryl McCombs

My great uncle.. from Maries Co. married a Martha NANNEY from near Rolla.. Could that be the same family that you are looking for? He died in 1983 and she died shortly before that. Johnson and his wife were between 50 and 60 years old. David and his wife are shown between 20 and 30 with one female under the age of 5. They lived in adjoining households. My ancestor was David Starr and he was in Scott County, AR. by 1850. I don't know when he married but he stated on 1850 census that he was born in Ohio in 1816. Their first several children were born in Missiouri. Any information or help appreciated. Marie at [email protected]
Cheryl, Do you know anything about her husbands' family? I have been eliminating all the Jones families in mid MO one by one. His death certificate lists his full name as Charles Isiaah Jones, born in Callaway Co. and his father as Earl Jones, born Camden Co., mother as Martha Foster, born unknown. Which one of the children does your husband descend from? My husband descends from their daughter, Opal Marie. I'd like to exchange information with you. I have Dessie's death certificate also. If you'd like copies, just let me know. Kelly _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
