The GenConnect system has been updated and merged with the system at myfamily.com (which is no longer). Please be patient while I learn the new system, get the proper links on the websites (counties only) and pass on information to you, the researchers. We have been promised that this new system will be easier to use (and maintain) and researchers will like the changes. As with every change, not everything will be to everyone's liking. This notice is for information purposes only as I've already gotten several e-mail asking me what's going on. I'll keep you informed as I'm informed. In the meantime, these changes DO NOT affect this list in any way. So post your "missing" ancestors, "share" some family information and let's break through those "brick walls." Forwarded by the listadmin for: "Dreama Reip" <[email protected]> I know this may be a dumb question (then again maybe not) but do you know of anyone in the Dixon, Pulaski area of MO. that might be able to find an obituary for me from April 16,1997? I looked all over the genweb site and I might have missed it, but I cannot find a library address. Aren't the newspapers usually microfilmed in the local libraries? Sorry to bother you, I am kinda new at this. TIA, Dreama

NOTE: these changes to the GenConnect system will not affect this list or the associated websites (county lists only). Shirley Scott [email protected], ListAdministrator This message from Rootsweb: RootsWeb.com regrets that the ability to post new information to the message boards, and the message board administrators' pages, are temporarily disabled while we transition to our new message board system, which will be available shortly. All previously-posted GenConnect messages are still available for you to search and view during this transition period. We recommend that if communication with a poster is urgent, you respond directly through an e-mail message. Otherwise, post a response once the boards have transitioned to the new system. The biggest and most exciting change to the new system is the combination of two powerful message board systems (i.e., GenConnect and FamilyHistory.com) into one -- users will be able to take advantage of a much larger community in which to share experience, tips, and genealogical information. The new message boards will be indexable by the major Internet search engines, and as a result queries, discussions, and helpful suggestions from the genealogical community will reach the widest possible audience. Thank you very much for your patience. JAKE GEHRING Executive Producer RootsWeb.com

Posted on: Pulaski Co MO Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Pulaski/10817 Surname: ------------------------- First of all let me say that I have no personal knowledge or interest in this family....the info I am posting came from my resource material for Pulaski Co., Missouri. James & Oma are first found in Pulaski Co. census records in 1880 ( I am assuming you have this info and have estimated the dates based on the childrens ages???) Living a couple of houses away is the family of Jacob Henry Garron Logan...in 1900 census Walker B. Lane is living in his household and listed as a servant. On a volume of the FTM disks one of the trees makes brief mention that Walker & his twin brother Robert were adopted by this Logan family. There is no furter info on Walker or Robert other than this note. I can tell you that according to tombstone inscriptions that Walker kept the last name of Lane. I do find a James L. Lane and wife Virginia "Jennie" Shackelford in the 1900 & 1910 census records. Not sure if this is your James L. but the birthplace of both parents is listed as IL ??? 1900 Federal Census Pulaski Co., Missouri Union Township 199 LANE, James L...age 30...MO...IL..IL/ ...Jennie...age 30...MO...MO...MO/ ...Elmer L...age 7...MO/ ...Pryor E...age 4...MO/ ...Floyd S. ?...age 1...MO 1910 Federal Census Pulaski Co., Missouri Union Township 61-61.....Farmer LANE, James L...head...age 40...m. 1x for 20 yrs...MO..MO...MO/ ...Jennie...wife...age 40...mother of 7 (all living)...MO..MO...MO/ ...Elmer...son...age 17...MO/ ...Eddie...son...age 14...MO/ ...Floid...son...age 11...MO/ ...Minnie...dau...age 8...MO/ ...Ada...dau...age 5...MO/ ...Vada...dau...age 5...MO/ ...Clyde...son...age 14 months...MO James L. Have been given copies of the following newspaper articles from the Jefferson Democrat, DeSoto, Missouri. Does anyone have any information on the following persons? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Wednesday, 29 June 1887-We saw in the St. Louis Republican one day last week, that W.A. JACKSON, of Richland, Pulaski County, Mo, had shot and killed his son-in-law, a man named Miller; and that he had given himself up to the officers. We presume it is the William A. JACKSON who was for many years a citizen of this county (Jefferson) and moved to Richland probably fifteen years ago, and if so we are sorry to learn that he has got into such serious trouble. The dispatch in the paper did not indicate whether the shooting was justifiable or not. Wednesday, 22 August 1888-Capt. W.A. JACKSON, who emigrated from this to Pulaski County killed his son-in-law some months ago, and it has been reported her(sic) since that he was convicted of murder and sent to the penitentiary. This was a mistake. He was tried last week and acquitted. We infer from what we have heard that it was a cause of self defense. (My note: William R. Miller was married to Elizabeth Ann JACKSON.) Wednesday, 31 October 1888-DIED-At her residence, in Richland, Pulaski County, Mo, Oct 21, 1888, Narcissus Ann, wife of William A. JACKSON, aged 51 years and 9 months. Mrs. JACKSON was raised on Dry Creek, Jefferson County, Mo and was a daughter of the late *Will? WILLEY. She was married to Mr. JACKSON, in this county, June 12th, 1861, and they moved to Pulaski County in August, 1874, where they have since resided. She was sick with typhoid fever, from the 12th to the 21st. She leaves a number of relatives in this county, and a husband and children in Pulaski County to mourn her loss. *Should be Eli WILEY. William JACKSON was my great uncle. William and Narcissus's children were: Elizabeth Ann JACKSON b: ca 1863 Burnside JACKSON b: ca 1864 Kate JACKSON b: ca 1865 Sheriden JACKSON b: ca 1866 Lucy JACKSON b: 1869 Thank You, Mary Miller [email protected]
