I will add your Hedrick information to my gedcom. You mentioned William Riley Miller had a first wife. Do you happen to have information on her? I don't know who she was. I still have one elderly 2nd cousin, who lives in Pleasant Hill, Pike Co., IL, who remembers William's and Delitha's family. Maybe you already have this bu here goes..According to the book, Pulaski County Obituaries 1902-1952, complied by Chris Rowell, Delitha Ann (Hedrick) Miller has an obituary published in the Pulaski Co. Democrat, page 6, July 15, 1948, b. 77y, d. July 6, 1948 m. Wm. R. Thomas 23 Mar 1885-6 Mar 1954 There are several cousins who are researching our Miller's, and we have records indicating a strong connection to them being Irish, and coming to the U.S. from County Londonderry, Ireland, after the Revolution, settling in Barren Co., KY., in the early 1800's, before migrating to Gasconade Co., MO. James Miller and Mary "Polly" West were the parents of Isaac Miller. William Riley Miller had one full blooded sister and her name was Matilda Ida Miller b. abt. 1848. I am assuming that is who the daughter from his first marriage, Ida Yaeger, is named for. William filed some affidivats on behalf of John T. Miller's Civil War pension file, but I don't think there is anything of use to you on the Hedrick's or personal information about William, other than he mentioned he was a brother and in another, he mentioned living near him for several years (can't recall the exact number -he does state when he moved to Pulaski Co., MO). If you think any of that would be of assistance, please let me know and I will scan copies for you. I would be glad to scan a copy of William's obit and forward to you as well. Do you know of anyone who may have photos of William's family? Shirley s.millerdunn@comcast.net

My George is the one at Richland Twp. Ozark Co. MO a brother in the household of Preston Singleton in 1880 census. Cynthia remains a challenge, I am hunting up every scrap on her. As the wife of Osema/Ossime Singleton she may or may not be an ancestor. Does anyone have info about a Largent family that came from Burke Co. North Carolina in the 1850s? -Mark

Thanks to Mike Weber for his info that Tombstones might exist for..... 1.) SINGLETON, SINTHY MELVINA b. 16 October 1825 and 2.) SINGLETON, GEORGE b. 1864? At the Antioch Cemetery, near Crocker. Does anybody have more info, or images of these tombstones? I am trying to figure out her whereabouts on the census between the 1860 census, which I have, and her death supposedly in the early 1900s. Why is she so MYSTERIOUS???? Which members of the Singleton family did she live with? -Mark Vernon Seattle, WA

I'm not sure where people who lived around Hawkins would be buried, but Fairview Church Cemetery (just off Highway 17 to the east) would be one possibility. There are probably other smaller cemeteries in the area that are possibilities. The reason I knew where Hawkins was located is that my father was born there--that's the name of the community as given on his birth certificate. However, I don't think my dad's family actually lived in the community of Hawkins, such as it was. I think that was probably just the post office from which they got their mail. I can't pinpoint exactly where Hawkins was, because my dad's family lived in more than one place in the same general area when he was young, and I don't know exactly where they lived when he was born. Later, when he was a teenage, they lived in Bloodland. Bloodland no longer exists because of Fort Leonard Wood, but Hawkins was west of where Bloodland used to be and, I'm pretty sure, was west of t! he current-day fort.

It was situated in the southwest part of Pulaski near the Laclede County line. I'm not sure I've ever actually seen it on a map, but I know this is approximately where it was located. As far as records, there probably aren't any--or very few anyway--because Hawkins was never more than a wide place in the road, even in its heyday. A source such as Moser's Directory of Missouri Places might list it, but a mere listing is probably about all that is available anywhere. However, you might be able to figure out from a study of census records the people who lived in the general neighborhood.
