Bev, I was in Polk County two years ago in the summer (and I first asked for tips from this list on places to go). I had a great time and found lots of info. I hope you do, too. Hi all, I would say that there are at least four "musts" in Bolivar itself and many more in Polk County overall. These four musts are the courthouse on the town square. Then the Polk County Genealogical Society Library, also on the square. Then the Polk County Museum, located three blocks north of the square on Main Street. Also the Polk County Library, located a mile or two west of the square on Broadway or Highway 32. All of these have different, unique genealogical resources to help with research. One important thing to look for at the libraries is cemetery records and once you find where your family is buried, then you can get directions to your family cemetery. (Definitely a MUST for most people.) Well, that's all I can think of. Maybe some others can think of some that I missed.
