According to the Mo 1840 Census :Heads of familites are listed in the exact order in which they appeared on the census record with family members enumerated by age groups in the following order: Males first, then females in the same age groups. Under age 5, 5-10,10-15,15-20,20-30,30-40.40-50 etc. For example Hunt John: 000100001. 1 male 15-20, 1male 60-70. Female line would be the same.
