I have some information on the Kelley family of Polk County - some of this is taken from Julie Wollard Trout's files posted on Rootsweb. Generation 1: George Washington Kelley, b. July 25, 1789 in NC, d. Jun 1869 in Polk Co. Burked Kelley Cty. Rondo, MO. Married Elizabeth Orendorff b. in SC bet. 1801 and 1809. The marriage took place in Logan Co., IL. They had several children borh in IL, but two of them, George Washington Kelley, b. abt 1839 and William Christopher Kelley b. 1842 were said to have been born in Polk County. Generation 2: William Christopher Kelley, b. Jan 4, 1841, d. Feb. 6, 1914 in Elkton, MO, buried Rondo, Polk Co. Married Mary Vanderville Watson, b. March 10, 1851, Webster Co. Married Dec. 14, 1869 Polk Co. Children: Annis Amanda Kelley, b. Oct. 18, 1870, Polk Co William Marcus Kelley, b. Mar 7, 1873, Polk Co George Lee Kelley, b. Children: William Raymond Kelley and Loren Lee Kelley. There are numerous Kelley's in Polk and Hickory County and I believe they are linked, although I have yet to establish that fact. My interest is the Hickory County Kelley family of Marquis L. Kelley, b. 1836 in Tennessee and d. 1895 in Hickory County. Marquis L. Kelley had a son, John Marquis (Marcus), and a grand-daughter, Annis Kelley born in 1898. I have more on these families and am willing to share. Sarah Thompson
