Hi, I'm researching the HASH, EDWARDS, WHITE, and CARTER lines. My grandparents were Thomas Fielding Hash and Cinderella May Edwards. He was at one time a mail carrier in Bolivar. Her parents were William EDWARDS and Jane Isabelle WHITE. The WHITE line is the one I'm interested in at the moment. Jane's father was William WHITE and her mother was Chloe Ann STURDEVANT. They are listed on the 1880 census as living with Jane and her family but their names have a line drawn through them as if they've been crossed off and something was written in the margin, but I can't make out what it says. I haven't found their names in any cemetery records for Polk County and wondered if anyone can tell me what might have been in the margin and what might have happened to them. In addition to Jane, William and Chloe had sons George W., and Martin L., as well as daughter Susan E., who married Michael LOWER. George W. died in 1897 apparently unmarried I found his name in the Civil War Pensi! on Index. I found a Martin L. WHITE listed in the Civil War Service Records Index, same Regiment as George but a different company. He does not appear on any census record for 1870 so I think he must have died during the civil war. Perhaps some of Susan and Michael LOWER'S descendants have an idea as to what happened to William and Chloe WHITE. Any information is appreciated Thank you, Andrea Eaton
