John Austin of 1850 Greene County, Census (#454/454 - Robinson (sic) Township) names the family as: AUSTIN, John 45, b. NC , Eliza 24, b. NC , Cenith 13 b. NC , Elizabeth 1 b. Mo. WILLIAMS, Margarette 11 b. Mo. CENITH AUSTIN was the daughter of JOHN AUSTIN, listed above, and his wife RACHEL. CENITH married first ANDREW JACKSON BASS, JR., as his second wife, on 9 February 1859. He died on November 29, 1859. She married second in September 1870 to Absolem Christfield Austin (of Dallas County). He died 2 June 1872. She married third 22 December 1874 to Patrick Hanophan/Hanifan, and she is buried at Bass Chapel Cemetery at Bassville, Greene County. My question is concerning the 24 year old Eliza in this 1850 household of JOHN AUSTIN. She appears to be a second wife (albeit that she is 21 years his junior), since there is an 11 year old MARGARET WILLIAMS in the household. I suspicion she is his wife, since a JOHN AUSTIN married a LOUISA WILLIAMS in Greene County on September 14, 1848. If so, then is this 11 year old MARGARETTE WILLIAMS in the 1850 household her daughter by a previous marriage to _____ WILLIAMS. I do not find a marriage for a LOUISA or ELIZA to a WILLIAMS in Greene County before 1839, but I do find a marriage of a LEVI A. WILLIAMS to ELIZABETH FENLEY, 30 June 1836 in Polk County - Book A, by Jesse Mitchell, ME South. Can anyone advise if this is the 24 year old ELIZA in the 1850 household of JOHN AUSTIN? If not, then can anyone answer what was the maiden surname of ELIZA, if she is indeed his wife. I have data concerning the probate of Rachel Austin, and (going from memory), I believe Ceneth is the only descendant listed, so it does not appear that ELIZA is an older sister to CENETH.
